Some don't charge extra for cosmetic changes, but everyone will increase their premiums if you have performance modifications.By how much is anyone's guess. An exhaust won't make a lot of difference, an induction kit might depending on the insurer. Chipping will make a difference with everyone, but by varying amounts. Some won't touch it full stop (I also found this with suspension).Doesn't help a lot, but you'll have to shop around. Call up individual insurers and ask - those that are more lenient will be happy to tell you so. Link to post Share on other sites

Subsequently when I declared the car to have an upper strut brace, they asked me to find another insurer. Best to go with an understanding specialist.
