Got a perfectly working 2001 MKIV v6 4motion black 5door full service history and year MOT for £800 but unfortunately in Essex within M25.

Sorry fella, unfortunately I don't have the area to break the vehicle up and store parts. But £800 will give you the entire vehicle.

YUP, that is the one. Only reason for finding a home for it is the wife has "adopted" the audi TT (v6 4motion was her daily drive) and I fell in love with a 2003 R32 that needed a little attention (so all my attention has been taken up). Have year MOT no advisaries, regular oil service (10 000 miles), just had full service engine, transmission, haldex, spark plugs and filters (done every 20 - 30 000 miles). New shocks and springs all round and new steering rack ( started leaking ). over the years the usual coil packs, etc have been replaced. Have just purchased the auxillary water pump, fan co

This might be electrical then (well the first thing to check). Transmission control module has been know to cause issues (could even be a loose cable). Check that there is no oil leaking from the transmission as well. Intermittent problems are the worse to diagnose...

Check your auxillary water pump and internal water pump. The water circulation together with the fans not performing as required would cause issues. the engines traditionally are pretty tuff and as long as they have been serviced on a regular basis shouldn't give any trouble. But then as you say there are many things that could cause a seize (even something as simple as chain and followers). Good luck with getting this sorted.

Automatic or manual transmission? I gather the revs were increasing as you depressed the pedal?

Also remember to fix what might have caused the overheat/seize. Normally the fan motor controller is at fault or fans first stage resistor packs. As the main fan only engages when hot, it can't coupe and the head gasket could go. Do you have a blown head gasket? or has the oil drained from sump (crack in sump is common on lowered vehicles)?
