lol. iv stripped mine today, all the sub, extra speakers,seatbelts, holders,carpet,rear seats, mats,parcel shelf, spare wheels n jack(at my own risk),iv left the font carpet in and 2 speakers and 2seats. oh and the door cards as they weigh nuthin ina mk2. alltogether iv lost 120kg in a day. alot of it was sound system,maybe half. but it feels loads better.Might save sum fuel too. and its still comfy in the front.happy days. -

been told that its only 1082,golf mk2 weighs 1010. and the vr lump is 72kg heavier than the 1.8gti lump. so 1082. sum people hav made comments on dif sites that the mk2 vr and mk3 weigh the same. but none actually own a mk 2 and most likely smoke crack cocaine. iv done way to much reading on it lol. the engines on the vr arent as heavy as there made out to be. 1 guy weighed a vr lump against a 1.8 t and it was only 18kg lighter. not my research, just read it. dont want to start world war 3 lol. -

your welcome to have a go in mine m8, your only 30 min away.iv not driven a mk3 so i cant compare it. iv found out that the mk2 with vr lump in, actually only weighs 1080. 70kgs more than a normal gti mk 2. so if im running near 200 its not bad power to weight ratio.iv got mine partially stripped out, only in the back though. i dont want to ruin a nice gti lol.just needs that turbo in 7 weeks. shud make a great x mas present.from me to me. the beauty of being single with no siblings. lol

Can any1 help me, i can find loads of info on what a mk3 weighs. but want to no the weight of a mk 2 vr6.

have you got a mk 3, what bhp you got. I think the engine pulls better in the mk2 from what iv seen and read. not sure of the weight diff. I had alot of power left when i was behind him. i was lettin the power on and off to bully him out the way, as his tin can was revin its tits off with no torque wotsoever. if he would of been alongside me, he would of got left right from the start. I was shocked at how easy i went past. as i no there quite a quick little car.not had mine dynod yet, but i must be on the 200 mark to be killing that so easy.

ah il check this with my mechanic see if he did it. and yes i do have an aftermarket radio. does it need to be disconnected. cheers guys.

No mate its n/a but im told by the vr6 specialist garage that its the fastest n/a k2 theyve driven. i had nothing to do with it, just bought it like it is and added few ligh mods like exhaust, 6 branch, decat, induction,leads etc. but it does go well. 7 weeks now till i turbo it. cant wait. Then i can start racing some bigger fish. For now im happy with owning a clio sport that prob had 200bhp plus under his bonnet. and still got owned, i wonder if hes put the french tin can on ebay and purchased himself a vr.if not im sure sum of you guys will gladly whoop his a/s till he does ..

Iv been doing some research into how much lighter a mk vr is compared with a mk3. bt i cant find anything that looks completely accurate. iv seen figures for a mk 2 gti at 930 and a post stating the vr lump is 70kg heavier. so a total of 1000kg for a mk 2 vr. and figures at 1160 for the mk3. how accurate is this. and does any1 have any info on this. cheers.

Took revenge on a clio 172 which clearly had uprated brakes, exhaust etc. tried to pull away off a roundabout both at standstill. He cudnt shake me, then moved aside and i waved and dissapeared laughing my head off. What a fun day, with a 325 bmw and a 06 3ltr tdi audi getting owned as well.

my car wont even allow vag in. its so weird. wish sum1 knew what it was. i always get the weird problems.

hi guys iv recently had my mk 2 plugged into vag and its says theres a connection but wont connect. its been done by a mapping pro and hes stumped. he says the only thing it could be is that its already been mapped and blocked by whoever mapped it. any ideas as id luv to no whats causing my bad idling at juntions etc when i dip that clutch. its drivin me crazy.

i took my car to the dubz unit today and had a new magnetex exaust, fuse box which was water damaged,and new pllugs and leads again. and my car goes like the rocket it should. incredible diff. but still got that stalling issue to fix. let me no if you fit a new lambda b4 me mate and how you get on. car didnt idle bad to be honest when i drove it back. but im sure that will change lol. 1 thing for sure its def not fully cured yet.

i bought sum new 1s recently. guy who put thmin had a right game. do you think hes damaged them sumhow. there ngk plugs. not sure what sort. can you tell me what i need for obd1 or whats best. wheres the idle control valve any1 please. thanks for the help again.

when my car is cold it runs beautifully. but when its warmed up at junctions when i put the clutch in it goes to stall. every now and then it does stall. iv cleaned the throttle body and replaced all the vacuum pipes and still no good. also sumtimes when i floor it, it farts and withholds power. i have a mk 2 gti fuel pump still on my car. which is being changed mon. could this be the reason. any help much appreciated.
