  1. When I have both chains on and I want to check that the timing is right can I just put the top cover on and wind the bolt all the way then rotate twice. (is that how I should check) also is the intermediate sprocket supposed to be timed what will happen if it's not.
  2. Am I supposed to tighten the tensioner bolt all the way?
  3. True. Do you pay to become a premium member. I have hooked up the lower chain with guide and tensioner but I'm still waiting for upper guide so can't do anything till Tuesday now.
  4. Is their any way to post pictures up
  5. Stuck ! I ligned up tdc and when I went to put the tool in the grooves where lower and the tool did not go in. I then turned 180• then the tool was only going in on the inlet. If I turned tdc more it goes out of line but the top lines up. Is this cos the chains have stretched. Do I lock it their and when I tke the chains off line tdc to the mark whilst the chain is off.
  6. Could anyone give me the exact measurements of the tool then I can make it.
  7. Intake off rocker cover off I would like to put some pictures up. The chain slack in the middle bowing down if that makes sense.
  8. Ok I'll c when I get the covers of what size of metal I need. Ive just got the box and flywheel off on the floor!! Not sure wether I'm going to get the intake and the rest of today. Should I drain the oil before I do this or will I be ok.
  9. See the thing is I'm not going to be able to get it until end of next week if I order it now. Does that tool lock both cams or are their two different locking plates for each cam. Can I simply wedge metal into the slots on the cams ??
  10. Can't find on eBay. Do I have to be premium member to check out the tool? What can actually happen if I don't use the tool has anyone done it without the tool??
  11. Hmm ok someone said I could custom make a tool could anyone shed some more light on this ?
  12. Right so all my tools are ready. The only thi g I haven got is the camshaft locking tool I'm going to take a chance and do without it. Hopefully they dont move.
  13. True say mate well I picked up mine really cheap £600 to be precise and it's only got 108k on it fully loaded as the highlines are purple leather and and the rest. I think I'll leave the head for now as I can do it any time and I don't think the box has got to come of to do it. I Havnt got the locking tool Do I really need it I'm starting tommorow.
  14. U got my chains from euro car parts they didn't have the creme colour guide rail Though have to get from tps.
  15. Woahh finally a reply lol. That's brilliant mate thanks for your help. I haven't got the tensioner bolt didn't know I needed one but will pick one up now. I have already bought my clutch now, do you think the head should be reconditioned at the same time will it improve performance allot. ?? I'm a mechanic by trade so I will be doing it myself heard it's quite a job Though.
  16. Also is it a good idea to recondition the head at the same time ??
  17. Ok so I Just got two chains, two slide rails and one tensioner. For £90. Make is Febi bilstein. Is this good ??
  18. Just wanted to ask how much the timing chain kit costs and if it comes with sprockets tensioners and guide rails. My clutch needs doing so I'm thinking of doing the chains at the same time the engine has done 108k. I hear a tiny noise on start up but after two minutes or so it goes away.
  19. How much did you pay for yours. And do you recommend using a original clutch
  20. Hello people. Just wanted to know if anyone knows anything about the light weight race flywheel. Wether it makes any difference and where I can get one at good price. Also what clutch I should go for. LUK I heard are the best when the Vr is pretty standard
  21. He's right that's what you need to do just make sure that you've got enough thread left to allow movement for the locking nut.
