you are way off!! the caravelle has many differences.. it was desigened to have torque a lot lower down the rev range.larger cams will not fit!! even standard golf cams dont fit. if its a automatic (as most are) forced induction wont work as the gearbox is ecu controlled and has a map sensor and that works on manifold vacume, so every time you go into boost it changes to top gear thinking there is no load..apart from that the gearboxes are made of mush and can only just handle standard power.some of the other things that are different are small boar inlet manifold and longer. the cams are sing

ID be happy with 24mpg i drive a vr6 caravelle and get 12-18mpg..but i love it and nothing good comes cheep

have you had the inlet manifold off lately? as i did have one that did the same. it had a small air leak in inlet gasket. when you let off the throttle the vacuum in the inlet manifold increased and sounded like a clarinet. hell we could make a jazz band. (h) ps check manifold bolts not loose. the fact i goes quieter when warm cold be due to expansion and its closing up

i have a caravelle vr6 engine code aes. which had low compression on 2 cylinders . so i striped it to find no 1 had eaten something and damaged bore beyond rebore. any way im having a lot of trouble getting a block. so what i wanted to know is. what is the difference between the aaa and aes? i have been told by one person its the casting for the engine mounts. but then been told by others there is nothing different in the blocks thanks for any help
