  1. Cheers Mate.

Eh on the coils its down about 3/4's of the threads so about 80-90mm

Av tried it lower before but causes too many rubbing issues.

Amazing' date=' I can barely run 16's on mine :o

I managed to run the coils right on the deck with a set of 15" audi a3 pepperpots on it. Was way too low for the roads i drive though.

Theres been quite alot of arch work doe though which might be the reason it all works for me lol.

  2. Well its finnally all finished after the last few weeks of getting the conversion done. The 8v just didnt quite hack it and the opertunity for the vr came up and i took it.Keeping all the extras frm the colour concept along with the engine.

Heres a few pics of during the conversion and then nearer the bottom is it finished and given a clean.

    Enjoy.

After some work once i had it running.Whole engine got list of nice new fresh parts seen it was easily accesable and i polished up the inlet.

Next steps are to get the "colour concept" on the leather stitched in red, maybe some engine shiny bits and to keep it for a while.

  3. yeh guess so,wont crack at all.

Just ordered the part straight from the dealers there. Not that expensive and should have it wednesday morning so shall be back going again soon.

I had a feeling it would break though as i had to fix the pipe on fitting the engine but obviously when the cars used for a longer drive the pressure just built up and the weak bit of the system broke.

When it happened i knew exactly what it was so wasnt as worried.

Lol your going to no doubt laugh when i say....after doing everything it ended up the fuel lines were back to front,on my gti they come to the front the other way round and i had put the feed ont he return and vice versa.

Something i had just over looked thinking it was too simple after doing everything else in the conversion.

On the other hand though...with me thinkn it was alot of other things..nearly all parts of the engine have now been checkd, cleaned and refitted etc...even down to new conectors on every earth wire and things like that lol

  4. Hey,

the main cooling pipe running along the front of my engine broke tonight and poured all my water out.Looking to see if anyone knows the part number of it as iv had to leave my car at a mates and it would save stripping the front end off right now.

Would allow me to order a new one tomorow.

Its the main plastic cooling pipe at the front of the block which has an outlet on it and has the clips on it to hold cabling.

    Heres a pic:

  5. Hey,

still not managed to get my vr running properly yet.

Iv managed to minimise the problem down to its fueling though. When the car is cranked over to turn it will initially spray fuel from the injectors but then after that it does not spray anymore but it will continue to spark so its down to fueling.

I dont think its an immobiliser issue as my vr is 92 with no inbuilt imobiliser in the ecu

Fuel has pressure at the rail and the fuel pump is working.

    Anyone any ideas?

  6. Sorry Scot' date=' I know I promised to take a look, but have no time to get behind that fusebox... Will have a look for ya if I'll get to it.

    [/quote']

No bother mate,as many folk have said i dont think they are needed to actually get the engine going but if i know then im sure they must connect to something.

Anyways today me and my mate decided to work it some more.

As the car wasnt starting and had checked everything, resorted to trying "easy start" sprayed into the throttle body.

This did get the vr to run however it needs a good amount to run and then for it to continue running it needs to be held at about 4-6k revs.

It seems that the fuel is only coming in and keeping the engine running when under high revs now,as if low down,eg starting etc its not geting enough fuel.Theres no air in the rail etc and iv checkd the fuel pressure regulator.all seem fine.

One thing i need to know is could the lambda sensor effect its rough running or start up as i had to rejoin the cables on it and not sure if this may cause any issues as its as if its not knowing when it needs more fuel and when less.I have a video i shall try and post up.Please i know the engine is being revved alot in the video from start but it was needed to allow it to keep running.

  7. Hey,

Wondering if anyone knows of anywhere that would have a wiring diagram of the actuall wiring loom which comes through the bulk head.

Does premium membership downloads have it?

    A bentley manual?

All the wiring diagrams i find dont actually tell me what each wire is as it comes through before going into the fusebox.

I can get the fusebox wiring but theres no point in that as my wires are not in the box that i need to know therefor knowing where they are in the box is useless.
