  1. I remember similar comments about my cage from the misses aswell :P Found it wasnt too bad for folk sitting in the back however it did have a good few victims of folk hitting it.

Arch work wasnt that major. The metal lip that goes back in the ay was fully cut away but they werent rolled or pulled etc. Front i had to pull out a little but i literally just pulled them with brute force and no roller lol.

  2. Ha! cheers man, Really am gutted i sold it. Going to be a task to get one the same again i think. Im trying to get a highline but only for the colour really as i dont like the interiors.

The wheels were 18's on it. Personnally i wouldnt go back to 18's. Id want to run 16 or 17" this time.

It was my first time using the machine polisher on my car and just pretty much gave it a bash as at worst i would have got the bad bits sprayed if i balls'd it up.Took a bit but finally worked out and was swirl free.

Really like the RC's on yours. would happily own yours any day mate

  3. Looking for some help here.

Fitted a new clutch on my corrado vr6 and now when coming up to the bite point there is a large amount of vibration. I thought it might just need bedding in however it has done over 50 miles now and no difference.

I dont think it can be out of allignment as it goes into gear with no problem at all. Drives fine once in gear etc. Will heavily vibrate when coming down the gears for engine braking.

Any more info needed ask away

    Any help appreciated

    Scott

  4. Tried leeving the ignition on for 20mins then starting it but still didnt make any difference. Not even sure if there was any noises coming from the throttle body.

The car hasnt been driven in a while if this may cause any problems? I took it a 20 mile drive and it started to idle better and where it should however occasionally on coming upto junctions and putting the clutch down it would stall as not knowing where to idle.

    Anymore help appreciated

  5. So i cleaned the throttlebody on the vr6 iv got the now and the engine was out as i fitted a new clutch however i now have the problem of a bad idle.

Iv searched about and it seems that i somehow need to reset the idle position on it to let it know its proper idle. Its obd2.

The car will idle between 1k - 2k as if its hunting and then if i disconnect the tps and icv it will settle for a little while then i plug them back in and it idles where it should. However then on taking it a drive the idle on coming upto junctions dies almost fully if not stalling.

    Any help appreciated.

  6. Ok so bit of a problem im looking to solve.

Did my vr conversion like a year and a half ago now. For a while where i stay and not using it iv just been disconnecting the battery to stop it draining, however iv sorted this and relised i had my electric windows plugged into fusebox live and not fusebox ignition live.

However on solving it from draining the battery it now seems though they are still sucking more power than should be. When i start the car with the windows plugged into the fusebox it starts but weakly,i have to hold the key maybe 5seconds cranking. sometimes idles lumpy for a few seconds then picks up. However if i unplug the live feed for the windows and start it then it starts ALOT more healthy and the way a vr should.idles perfect etc

I did have a problem where the passenger windows intermitantly worked off the main drivers switch and wondered maybe if its a dodgy window motor sucking extra power....

Looking to see if anyone has any ideas on what the problem could be??

ANY help appreciated as i know everyone hates wiring issues!

  7. Looking for some guidance.

Had my vr fitted in the car for a while now after coverting it from colour concept. Mk3 vr clocks etc. obd1. The mfa shows everything apart from the mpg which reads 99.9. Is this a simple plug not connected or something else?

Got the fusebox and that out the now anyways as my battery keeps draining to trying to sort that out and though may aswell try get this done at the time time.

    Cheers

  8. Looking for some guidance before i set about fixing it.

Got an oil leak coming from the top of my filter housing where one of the sensors goes in. The one on the right hand side(blue cable)

Firstly looking to know what it is,oil pressure maybe? and secondly weither i should just replace the sensor, have to replace the whole filter housing or if i can jst take it out put some gasket sealer round it and bung it back in?

Also can anyone give me the part number for the blue sensor in the thermostat housing..the one for the ecu engine temperature i think it is?? Going to buy a new genuine one rather than poor quality ecp one.

    Any help appreciated

  9. Wicked cheers' date=' im moving to a new flat at the end of december and i have my own car port there, and my flat is ground floor, with the window about 6 meters away so i can do my machine polishing under there.... mine needs a bloody good clean... he does come up real well but i just cant get the swirls out for love nor money so im gonna try the machine polisher soon... i use rubbush boys juiced edition caranuba wax on mine and chemical guys black hole... have been meaning to try that extreme top coat.... is it good??

    [/quote']

Wish i had that at my flat :P Id be needing to run an extension from first floor and across a road lol. Not the most handy.

Thats the exact way mine used to be bud. Came up really well, dead shiney but really it was lots of swirls. Thats what made me set about it. Dont get me wrong its tough getting them out with the vw paint being so tough. Well worth it though.

I bought a silverline buffer off ebay with pads etc and all i can say is i wish i hadnt. If your looking for a good kit pm me and ill point you in a direction id highly reccomend. The pads i got were completely pants. Iv now got meguiars pads and makes the world of differnce.

The extreme top coat i was pretty happy with. Was first time i used a "sealnt" as i usually just polished and waxed.

Heres some pics of during it,really does look sorry for itself lol. Have to just keep thinkng that itll be fine once its back together and washed.

  10. where's NAT? She has some serious competition...

Ohhh dear.. i best get my machine polisher out!!! :-p

Looks real good mate' date=' ive got various compounds ready to try out on my machine polisher, just need the time and the weather!! How long did your machine polishing take start to finish??

    [/quote']

I used meguiars cleaner/polish for most of the rotary work. Started spreading it at setting 1 on my polisher then working upto around 2000rpm and back down again to finish off. After that i had speed glaze to try but never used it. Used chemical guys extreme top coat sealnt and then r222 concours wax to finish it off.

Took me about 2-3 days to do it fully but that was working outside under a gazeebo due to crappy weather and that included taking off front and rear bumpers, door handles and then masking up.

Got some photos during it ull post up.

Poor cars hardly being kept that clean the now due to the weather and im back living in my flat where i have no hose or off street parking :-(

  11. Yeah iv done a bit of write up on what i did on the link on the first page...here it is again though http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/Competition/Entry.aspx?EntryId=422

However saying that i havent gone into it in that much detail about the sort of deswirling etc. When iv got a bit of time ill do a bit more in deep write up for on here (h)

Changed the lights on the front of it now...the indicators/fogs. Have gone for some smoked ones. O yeah and have the bra on lol

  13. Nice one getting back to me mate. Iv got an alpine headunit fitted. Ill try taking that out and see if i have anymore luck with it.Try and just have it so i need to turn it on each time.

Funny you should say about the alarm. Befoe i did my conversion i had alarm fitted however i had it removed by an auto electrician.

How did he manage to tell you that there was a high amount of discharge?

Its really annoying me the problem so trying anything. Battery is new,was going to do alternator and ecu relay next.

Guy would know doubt charge a fortune as im in scotland lol.

  14. Hey

Im looking to be changing the alternator in my car. It currently has a 70A one fitted but im wanting to fit a 120A one. My engine is OBD1 1994 but been put into a OBD2 1997 car.

Im looking to find out if the brackets/connectors are the same to fit it to my car.

If the connector is differnt i can go get another connector off a scraped vr and splice it on but just to know if it will fit.

If anyone even has a picture of there 120A altenator connections thatd be great.

    Cheers

  15. Got the same problem as this mate. Can leeve the car 3 days and the batery will be totally dead. Cant start it and very dull instrument lights.

Also sometimes its a weak start and then the revs build up to idle.I know its defo electrical and not fueling or spark as when my battery is on charge and connected to car it starts like a dream.

Just got a brand new battery and still doing same thing. Going to check alternator next but also want to uprate it anyways as iv got a 70A one but want the 120A from later cars.

My car also hunts slightly when sitting at traffic lights around the 500 mark.Very slightly, not major. My car has a decat though and thought may have been lambda sensor readings causing this though.

    Any help appreciated.

  16. Another input for you mate, iv just turned 20 in the last week and have been running my VR from about last august.

I had the 1.4, 1.8 , and 2.0 8v golfs but youll never get the same feeling of a VR. Its got to be one of these things you have to have if you like mk3s i think. You'll find youll love it so much you wont worry about the costs in the end.

Although saying that the insurance you would be paying seems crazy. Im just 20 with 1 years no claims and im paying 960 a year. Thats with admiral fully comp.

I travel from glasgow-edinburgh every week and find motorway driving sitting at 60-70 isnt bad on fuel atall and can do the milage on about quarter a tank. I can get over 200miles out a tank and thats wil the occasional blast and driving sensible.

If you really think its going to be a downfall money wise you should just plough some more money into your 1.4 at the minute and save for a vr in a year or so.

  17. One of the only mk3's ive seen on 18's which looks nice.....very nice

im not usually a fan of 18s on a mk3 either' date=' but this looks spot on... prob becuase the ride height is usually alot higher in most cases....

were these baught new? dont they cost a fortune?

    [/quote']

    Cheers for the comments guys.

Ano what you mean about 18s on a mk3,seen alot of folk who just slap them on. Think cos iv got the arches sorted to allow it to go as low it sits better.

Yup indeed they were bought brand new. Hard to come by second hand and wanted them to be mint for show season ahead.

Ha! Yeh lets say there a big dent in my wallet :P
