Hi guys, I'm looking for some help. I'd LIKE to have the upper and lower chains n tensioners, guides etc replaced as the cars hit 110,000 now, thing it would also be sensible to replace the lifters and stem oil seals etc. I'm confident I could do this work my self, but I have no idea where to source the parts, don't really want to pay direct VW prices, but I'm guessing I might have to. I honestly have tried searching but couldn't find my answer. Thanks, jon

haha, thanks man Right so today I was on with a big job, get the cars out side and clean the unit, after 9months of graft it had become pretty messy. So I had the task of refitting my old mans rear brakes and bleeding them and refitting the wheels. That done I got the cars out side, bare in mind this is the first time my car has moved more than 9 inches in as many months, she fired up and felt great driving out. I have deffo fallen back in love with her. Anyway here's some pics, And after 3 hours, all clean as sorted out, -

Got my new brake bias valve fitted today and the brakes bled through, I also got the new air filter fitted and in place, id like to make a small heat sheild to try and block any rising hot air from the manifold, I like the look of it there as its stays central to the engine and the bay, I need to source some new engine bay plastics, but other than that I'm not far from really re building this. There's a lot of titavating to do but it's almost there. Anyway, here's some pics of how the bay looks at moment. the best 2 cheers. -

well having owned 3 mk3's, my latest been a vr that ive owned for nearly 2 years now, i realised i dont have a thread on here, im a long time lurker and dont post that much, but i really should get more involved with this site as it has helped me out noumerous times.. shame i missed the vr6 show tho... anyway, its going to be long winded, but here goes, hope you enjoy... firstly, heres a few pics of my previous mk3's, my green 8v and my chilli pearl abf the car saw many guises, trims, wheels, seats etc, but this is how it ended up sataying, unfortunetly, some bellend rear ended me so that -

thanks for the advise, but ive been a mechanic for the best part of ten years in the army, unfortunetly i have only ever owned a vr6 once, as i have one with ABS too... and theres no tanks in the uk with ABS so i dont see anything wrong with asking for feedback or advice, if anything id be daft not to... anywho, long story short, its solved now, been off work for the last 3 days that i have been working on it, so the car hasnt moved, today i drove to work, about 20 miles, and the brakes feel great, still not bedded in yet, but the pedal is nice and hard pretty much from the top now, cheers ag -

does it require bleeding again after the peice if wood method? i figured that purging the abs with vag com was needed as its the only thing i have been able to do -
taken from somewhere else i have this question up to save me writing it all out again... monday/tuesday... ok, so changed, front and rear discs and pads, and fitted my good ridge hoses, then i went to bleed the brakes, i used a pressurised bleeder (on the spare wheel) i jacked up the rear, both wheels off, jacked up the front, all wheels now off... started at the back left and carried on as follows, back right, front left, front right, not just waiting for air to escape but until all old fluid was expelled and only fresh stuff was freely flowing i made sure i jacked the rear axle before bleedi

mk5 R32 front brakes, anyone fitted them??
redders replied to redders's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
the will be going on, dont you worry... re painted in red... and test fitted with a wheel in my specs... (yes i know its 4 stud) got the discs getting re drilled as we speak, and a mk3 hub on the way so i can start making the custom mounts for the carriers... theres 2 reasons i wanted huge brakes... 1: there is nothing worse than having a nice wheel and looking through the wheel and seeing a pathetic brake set up behind it, so when my rotiforms arrive these will look yummy behind them... and 2: im getting everything ready on the car for when it gets supercharged, the suspension, brakes, ex -
well, here we go then... most of you know my old mk3, after the PVW feature, i set out to make the car look a little different for the up and coming new year, trawling through ebay and god only knows how many other web sites to find some new wheels, knowing that a simple change of wheels would be enough to put a new lease of life into the car... the car made it to ultimate dubs, but not before a few phone calls had been exchanged and the car was due to be sold on the monday after after ultimate dubs, i took what would be my last drive back up the country before the new owner came to buy her.
