  3. some scumbag has helped himself to my car on Sun 30th just thought i would put out the engine no in case anyones offered it AAA264169 its also got a red painted rocker cover. Cheers. VIN number is WVWZZZ1HZWW193128 Taken from Cannock , Staffordshire Would like to get it back as i've spent Loads!!!!!! of money and time on it.
  4. Just to let anyone know who's interested I've done the job now and the engine sounds sweet!! no more rattles at all.
  5. I,ve been reassured that there should be some play on the intermediate shaft (backlash) so with that I'm going to put it back together and hopefuly no rattles!! if it does it will be pushed of nearest cliff
  6. Thanks for that i will give it a go.
  7. Sorry I can't put up any picks but its the shaft with the two sprockets where top and bottom chains meet.
  8. Thanks for that. has any body heard of this having to be replaced before? does it just slide out when the 4 bolts are removed or is it best left alone? I have recently had a new oil pump fitted so wouldn't think it was that making the noise. This jobs turning into a night mare!!! and i just want to wake up and find it was all a dream and the pixies have fixed my VR6
  9. may be abs pump as i had a problem with abs light coming on/off but when it was put on computer it kept saying it was rear sensor so had this changed twice.worked for abit then light came on again. garage fitted second hand pump and that solved it. no probs since. hope this may help
  10. I'm in process of replacing timing chain/tensioners etc, on inspecting the intermediate shaft there seems to be some play when turning the shaft from left to right and the faster it is done it seems to have that marbles in a tin noise! has any one else had this as i don't want to put everything back and still have a noise. A quick responce would be grateful. Not sure i presume it is a bearing and looks like retained by 4 pozi type bolts. Also any precautions on removal/refit of this item. Many thanks!!!
  11. I had this problem and took the car to a independant vw garage and was told it was my oil pump and had that replaced but it made little difference. But when i replaced my upper tensioner the problem went away! Just a thought!
  12. Hi Guys, I've got noisy timing chain on my 98 vr6, On inspection of upper guide it has been replaced but there was several old bits i had to fish out (thought this was causing the noise!) Put it back together but rattle still there.Would like to know if there are any special precautions on removing driveshafts and the gearbox? As i think the lower chain cover will now have to be removed. Any info would be great thanks.
