  1. You're nothing if not prepared! We're staying overnight at the Ramada in Dover. Is everyone meeting at the sports centre car park as usual? We won't be there after 07:00. Cheers, Andy

  3. The only toll road is the 20832 metre one-way system around the vicinity of Nurburg! Cheers, Andy
  4. don't be. just stick to the cardinal rule of avoid the kerbs when it's wet. Just stay off the kerbs, full stop! Most places, they're so large that they'll hit you off line. Just look at the Maserati video linked from the 7 second ringer. I can only think of one kerb you can hit and it's a bit harsh on the car. That's down at Hatzenbach. Cheers, Andy
  5. I use a full-face helmet. If you're worried about visibility the term full=face isn't 100% accurate. There's a hole in the front to see through. :-p Cheers, Andy
  6. Coolio! This officially makes you the first VR6OC 'Ringer to bring wet and dry tyres. Feel proud! Cheers' date=' Andy [/quote'] I had wet tyres and snow chains last easter. does that count? I guess so. You didn't have dry tyres though, did you? Cheers, Andy
  7. Coolio! This officially makes you the first VR6OC 'Ringer to bring wet and dry tyres. Feel proud! Cheers, Andy
  8. glad you said that andy as i got 4 new toyo proxes TR-1`s goin on tomo lol They're a good wet/dry compromise: great in the wet and anything's usable in the dry! Hoping to have enough tread left on them after this weekend for the next Solo at Silverstone. Cheers, Andy
  9. The high-vis vest is compulsory for every passenger in France and you should be able to reach it from your seating position in the car. If you step out of the car without it, expect to pay a fine. I think a fire extinguisher may be mandatory too. As for desirable, a skid lid is a good bet. Whether you plan to stuff it or not, there are blind bends and blown engines that drop oil. Armco is solid stuff: ask Pete! Cheers, Andy
  10. That's why we're staying in Daun. It's £45/night instead. It's 20 minutes down the road but if you have to drive anyway, it doesn't matter how far it is, really. Cheers, Andy
  11. We'll leave the usual car park meeting spot at 07:00. If you're there before 07:00, we'll see you there, otherwise, we'll see you on the ferry. Cheers, Andy
  12. There's always someone who remembers fuck-ups! Whose idea was it to put the guy with no co-driver, no sat nav and just a printout from Google Maps to get from Calais to the 'Ring in the lead, eh? I've never got so lost so many times in my life! All I knew was E42 > E40 and the signs disappeared when we passed Brussells. This year, there's two of us in the car, so one can navigate. I've got sat nav as a back-up too. Cheers, Andy
  13. Hmmmmm would be a good shake down wouldnt it..............in a purely scientific way that is' date=' to check the drag co effeicant(SP?) of the VR [/quote'] Everyone's car will be different, depending on tyre sizes, ride heights, body kits, radio antennas and wotnot. You can work out your drag co-efficient if you feel the need. As for a blast down the autobahns, I don't see the point. It'll add 30 minutes onto the journey and you'll probably struggle with traffic. THose 30 minutes could be better spent doing two laps, in my mind! Cheers, Andy
  14. Dead easy to find. The key to finding it was to not turn right! Straight over at the first roundabout and it's a big fuck off supermarket on your right. Cheers, Andy
  15. Normally' date=' we stop once on the other side of the ferry, once in Belgium and once closer to the 'Ring. Last year, the latter stop was in Luxembourg for cheap fuel. A little bit of bollocks there. It's not 5000 Euros a metre. It's expensive though. You should expect a bill well into 4 figures if you do stuff it. The simple solution is to treat it as what it is, a country lane. Treat it like a race track and you'll be looking for a passenger ride home. Be safe, have fun. It's not a race, so how fast you go doesn't matter at all. You should have a good read of Ben Lovejoy's site to
  16. Grand Prix track as well? Brilliant! I missed out last year as I was too busy getting my hire car sorted. Going for the lap record in the track slag.... or not! Cheers, Andy
  17. Drifting king! Dale Lomas properly sideways in an Alfa 75. I've never seen anything quite this sideways around the 'Ring. He's even sideways around Pflantzgarten and Kleine Karrussel!
  18. It's 49 Euros per person and lasts about 90 minutes. Expert tuition on lines and wotnot. Cheers, Andy
  19. Almost forgot. Who fancies doing a trackwalk on Friday night? They do mental rentals too! Cheers, Andy
