  1. No offence meant bigjobbo, but the opposite of what you have just said there regarding the quick off the mark is true, the VR comes into its powerband after about 3000 rpm, and really starts to go over 4000 rpm, my mates running a charged VR pushing out maybe 270 odd brake, and it will slip in fourth in the wet, try keeping up with a quattro in that, no chance.

  2. hey, my car was putting out about 125 brake at powerstation, timing chain snapped that night, so id love to go back there and see what my beastie is doing now.

oh and if we need to get nubers up, i should be able to get anothe couple of cars up possibly, and if non vw's are allowed also, my mate wants to test his chipped focus. sti

  3. Never owned a single vw in my wole life, and needed a 4 door car with some poke, after looking at a few subarus that were all ripped and abused took my mate (montevr6)'s advice, looked at a few vr's, glad about my decision now, as they say theres no replacement for displacement.!!

  4. well, your entitled to your opinion mate, i like to enjoy my cars, they are there for driving hard, and i have had the pleasure of redlining many different varieties and combinations of engines and drivetrains, and in 14 years havent ever blown a car while driving.

  5. i thimk a lot of you kids are missing the point here, yes my engine has a stage 1 ported and polished head, flowed inlet, flowed throttle body, and i dont make a point of hitting the redline every time i jump in the car, but its fun to see what the car will do compared to my mates 16v mark 3. for example, as for abuse, if you look after your car and maintain it, it shouldnt make any difference, the cut-out is there to stop any serious damage.

  6. as above really matey, probably easiest way is to put the old leads back on first, check your coilpak at night by starting the car and spraying with a mist of water, if its buggered you will see the arcing in the dark more clearly, but shouldnt be anything too major, i got a coilpack from an engineering firm in essex for about £100:00. p.m me if u want me to find the website for ya..

    keep us posted.

  7. You dont need oil going back into your throttlebody mate, u have a few options, get the new part, or run a pipe from the breather to the underside of your car, and block the other end up, or you can invest in an oil catch tank that will breathe back to atmosphere, in my opinion, your better off without it, like i said before, all you want going through your throttlebody is bloody cold air!
