No offence meant bigjobbo, but the opposite of what you have just said there regarding the quick off the mark is true, the VR comes into its powerband after about 3000 rpm, and really starts to go over 4000 rpm, my mates running a charged VR pushing out maybe 270 odd brake, and it will slip in fourth in the wet, try keeping up with a quattro in that, no chance.

mt mfa 2 is normally on about 23,5 ish, goes upto about 32- 33 on long runs, 25- 28 round the north circular road gong 20 miles to work.
-
okay if its only V.R'S ill bring mine and montevr6 will bring along his s/c more tan likey.
-
anyone have any idea what the other readings are?
-
anyone here running a 6 speed box on a vr?
-
yeah im doing it this week, should i use semi or fully synthetic in the gearox?
-
mines the same, black with black leathers, the seats are freezing in the cold and bloody boiling in the heat, but the aircon is a must, especially when in traffic, my mate has a mk3 16v and the vr produces way way more heat in and around the engine bay.

hey, my car was putting out about 125 brake at powerstation, timing chain snapped that night, so id love to go back there and see what my beastie is doing now.
oh and if we need to get nubers up, i should be able to get anothe couple of cars up possibly, and if non vw's are allowed also, my mate wants to test his chipped focus. sti

have you had it on a rolling road yet?
-
110 must have been proper screaming...lol

Never owned a single vw in my wole life, and needed a 4 door car with some poke, after looking at a few subarus that were all ripped and abused took my mate (montevr6)'s advice, looked at a few vr's, glad about my decision now, as they say theres no replacement for displacement.!!
-
well, your entitled to your opinion mate, i like to enjoy my cars, they are there for driving hard, and i have had the pleasure of redlining many different varieties and combinations of engines and drivetrains, and in 14 years havent ever blown a car while driving.
-
hi guys, some advice please as to what this is (synchro possibly) only happens when your trying to snap it into gear a bit, ut its okay if you do it a bit slower.
-
i thimk a lot of you kids are missing the point here, yes my engine has a stage 1 ported and polished head, flowed inlet, flowed throttle body, and i dont make a point of hitting the redline every time i jump in the car, but its fun to see what the car will do compared to my mates 16v mark 3. for example, as for abuse, if you look after your car and maintain it, it shouldnt make any difference, the cut-out is there to stop any serious damage.
-
you dont drive it on the redline, but if youve got some jap rocket next to you then needs must! my cut out is soft also compared to most other stuff ive driven.
-
MAF is between your throttle body and air box on the left side of the engine mate, i believe the speed sensor is a main stealer part.
-
very nice mate, how dropped is it?
-
as above really matey, probably easiest way is to put the old leads back on first, check your coilpak at night by starting the car and spraying with a mist of water, if its buggered you will see the arcing in the dark more clearly, but shouldnt be anything too major, i got a coilpack from an engineering firm in essex for about £100:00. p.m me if u want me to find the website for ya..
keep us posted.

Anybody know of somebody good and reliable not too far from london? also how much should i be looking to pay for a full take apart refurb and polishing lip on a set of b.b.s's?
-
hey guys, just picked up a set of b.b.s's dirt cheap on fleebay, will get them refurbed and then need some new rubber. just wondering if anyone could recommend anywhere, will be looking for 205/40/16's, toyo;s, bridgestones or goodyears.
cheers..
-
my head is ported and polished, flowed throttle body, panel filter, and not much else but is still doing over the hundred mark.
-
cheers boys, so thats about right then.
-
You dont need oil going back into your throttlebody mate, u have a few options, get the new part, or run a pipe from the breather to the underside of your car, and block the other end up, or you can invest in an oil catch tank that will breathe back to atmosphere, in my opinion, your better off without it, like i said before, all you want going through your throttlebody is bloody cold air!

synta has been replaced by the fuchs, seem pretty good to me!

so you think a standard or mildly modded vr is a quick car off the line?
