53 (2003) PLATE V6 NOT ACCLERATING HELP[/b]
cmoth replied to VR6 DUBBER's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Hi Any further update on your qeery as I am experiencing similar problems also -
coilpack(s) I would say ..

My 4 motion is a bit like that too. I have just changed the MAF and bought 5 new coilpacks which I have not fitted yet, so I hope that will cure its funny ways?

Ive had my golf 4 motion for 3 weeks now and also run a corrado vr6. I find that the golf does its best work below 4k where as at this point in the corrado, its just got well in its stride. I would say that for day to day real world drving that the 4 motion Feels quicker although once you have a clear road and can use the full power of the corrado, the corrado is the one that leaves you with a smile on your face. The 4 motions are incredibly juicy too, well mine is anyway! I have driven a golf vr6 recently and I would say that there is not a great deal of difference in feel between golf vr6 a

Hi I have just purchased a 2001 golf 4 motion. Ive just taken it for a spirited spin and noticed that the rev limiter seems to intrude at an indicated 6200 rpm? - I would be surprised if this is normal considering peak power is achieved at these revs? Whilst its not my intention to drive round at max revs all day, it would be nice to know whether this is normal or not and if it is not, as I suspect the case to be, what would be causing this? Im thinking MAF , ECU ?? I have just disconnected the battery for 30 mins as I had no idea what petrol the previous owner run it on which I hoped might c

Car no longer sounds like a scooby so coilpack has cured that problem. I still feel that car is a bit underpowered although this seems to be all the time now? having said that, I took it out tonight and it was much better, although not perfect? - Has anyone else noticed their Vrs running a bit slower than the norm in the recent humid temperatures?

New coilpack is on, so far so good, although its bloody hot today so not going to drive anywhere till later. Vagcom is now clear also, so fingers crossed car should be ok. New plugs, leads and a coil all within a week or so!
-
UPDATE - Vagcom initially revealed a load of errors, these were cleared and its come back with Ignition output 3 - short circuit to positive. This was then cleared and the car actually went into scooby mode immediately. Vagcom put back on and above message only one there. It looks very much like it could be the coilpack, so I am going to get it changed on Monday. Can someone give me a list of other problems a failing coilpack would cause, as before I got the plugs changed, on occasions, normally when hot, it would seem down on power. Once car cooled down again, back to normal. If it was Cam s

if that is the case, why would it not be like that all the time? After 15 mins or so, car fires up and runs really well again?
-
Maybe? - Ive know someone with the same car who has offered to put their MAF in my car, so maybe I will try that tomorrow, so if it does not cure the problem, at least I know its not that. Thanks Col

Hi guys Thanks for your responses. From my research on here and other forums, I would be surprised if its the coilpack, as it runs as good as gold from cold. I believe this rules that out? I think its more of a wiring issue to be honest although I spoke with Vince at stealth today who thought it could be fuse / fuel pump related. Im going to put it on Vagcom tomorrow and see what that revelas and get any previous faults cleared. Keep the suggestions coming through though please! Col

Im having a few problems with my VR6. Ive just had new plugs and leads fitted but the car runs very nicely until up to temperature and then all of a sudden for no apparent reason, it loses all power and goes into limp mode and sounds like a scooby and its getting rather frustrating as it does it every day. The leads are fine, could the plugs be faulty or is it something else? Its a 94m corrado with coilpack. Thanks

Definately potent when it waffs through the air vents although its not all the time. Im hoping the pressure test may reveal where its coming from as I dont think its anything serious as everything else about the cooling system seems to be working as it should. Im hoping its probably a seal although knowing my luck with cars, It would not surprise me if it transpires that it is the heater matrix? I cant see any real leaks in the engine bay and i have been cleaning it alot recently
-
I only really notice it when I stop at traffic lights, traffic etc. Im guessing its either heater matrix on its way out or possibly a leak from somewherein the cooling system. Just wondered if anyone has suffered this with their VR6 golf/ corrado etc. I am not loosing any water and I know the car has had a new radioator and waterpump fairly recently.

Hi Ive had just joined this forum as I purchased a corrado VR6 a couple of weeks ago. I previously owned one 6 years ago and compared to my current one, I think its far to say it was a dog as the two are like chalk and cheese. Mt current vr6 is a M 94 plate with only one previous owner. My question is that I can notice a smell of coolant coming into the cabin when the engine is at normal operating temperature. I have replaced the expansion cap but it is still there although I believe not quite as bad. Has anyone suffered this or can recommend all t he possibilities that it could be? I have it
