  1. German and Swedish do the thermostat housing for £14.50 plus vat...with seals my bill was £22 with Vat plus another tenner for a theermostat....quite an easy job... I posted a few weeks back Bloody antifreeze cost a fortune !
  2. I've got a VR6 Sharan and it ran at exactly half the temp gauge. However after a recent water leak (thermostat housing !) I replaced the Thermostat and it now runs a fraction over this....Can;t say as I've ever checked the oil temp....I'll see if I can find this and report back...Temp always stays steady though...even going round the Safari Park on Saturday when it was B****y hot.
  3. Just thought I'd confirm a few things....water leak was due to a damaged thermostat housing where it bolsts on to the block...seal had been "sucked" in and leaked, I've had the car 3 years and it just suddenly does this ! New Housing was £18 from GSF O rings and Thermostat added another £14 and the correct antifreeze was another £18. Replacing it as previous post suggests was about 2 hours...although I ended up using jubilee clips rather than try and get those b'stard clips back on the hoses !....Fingers crossed all seems ok. Thanks for the advice/guidance.
  4. Hi Dellert, Thanks for that..Did you replace the o rings where the plastic tube goes intot the thermostat housing....or am I talking B****ks ? Just read a few bits and it seems these are a bit of a weak point ? Have to have a bash at this over the next few days. Cheers
  5. Just wondered if you fixed the fault ? was it easy....Loks like my Sharan has the same leak...looks like a real git to get to !
