  1. Jay I was checking out the pics - do you guys not have the rear mudflaps that have VR6 on it? I think that would look killer on yours...just a suggestion :-)

Howzat gents, Ok so since my previous problem thinking of just completely redoing my engine keeping the same displacement though 2.8L...the thing is I dont know what exactly suppose to be done, I know pistons, rings, bearings but could someone be so kind to tell me exactly what kind of questions I should asking when calling around for a quote?? *-) Thanks 2.8L in distress

I know doesn't sound good at all, his gonna check it out for me today, he said the other tapping noise could be one of my hydraulic lifters he said for sure one is noisy and because i jus have a carport the cold could make it worse so thats why the sound is so intense and also explains why he cant hear it now. (Its winter in SA). I dont deal with the STealerships his a VW spec very trust worthy always worked on my car. So by the looks of things gonna replace all 12 hydraulic lifters and gonna do my control arm bushes. The dragging noise i was hearing thats one of my driveshafts thats phucked

Howzat gents, I have a 98' Golf VR6 - recently there's a tapping sound coming from the engine (the side where the throttle body is), its not a knock cos this sound is there whether the car is idling or in motion (so I'm guessing definately a constant moving part) I have no loss in power, no gain in fuel comsumption, temp normal, oil temp normal...but on the dip stick there's small particals (not sure what it is - jus parying its not filings!!!) - There was also a noise this past Saturday on top of this tapping sound - like something was dragging on the road from the engine, but there was no
  9. Castrol Magnatec mate thats the best oil around for the VR - the agents use this oil as well.
  10. Checked the terminals on the battery? Also check plug just below the power steering fluid reservoir (not sure if thats called the starter switch)
  11. My relay control unit was busted so thats why mine didnt "click" or have an effect on the power output...so I'd say its either that or you just outta gas.

She needs a JHB to DBN trip, to open her up...that should close the GAP from 5700 - 6500rpm which should show your speedometer going past the 240km/h mark, I have a 98'model she runs like a dream....about the other stuff I personally wouldn't fiddle with the engine its too delicate unless you want it to be "tweaked" VR then let me know how it goes...

Hi guys, it might possibly be your throttle body or even your air mass meter, or you guys may call it the airflow meter...Im from SA and my 98' VR's air mass meter packed up, which was causing her to idle funny and sometimes not start...try cleaning out the throttle body and unplug your air mass meter its the first plug just after your air box going up...
