  1. ATTENTION ALL UK SHOPPERS.... Try this site for all your VR6 parts and accessories... See you might have to wait a little while to get these items, but on your currency these things would be a STEAL... Just ask for Mo... See you guys will be buying in ZAR / South African Rands = 1 pound = 12 South African Rand ... by your standards, this is a STEAL www.autostyle.co.za
  2. I don't know about you guys up in the UK, but down here in Richards Bay, South Africa, you got any chance of water retention after rain, it WILL start rusting within a fortnight. Looks a lot cleaner without all the plastic gadgets... Here the new craze is stock, with upmarkat lights, indicators, and dropped with a noo set of shoes, bigger = better. One genius slapped 19" alloys on a,d gave it a 40mm drop. Looks the NADS !!! Less is more!
  3. I was running between Richards Bay and Empangeni today... Ok for those of you's who don't know, these 2 cities are about 30 km or 14 odd miles apart. Open road with enough lanes to pass safely, but minibusses (taxis here) tend to cut you of, so you really test the ability of the stopping power on the VR6. Mine being a 1997 model, with the ABS lights etc. doing a MAGNIFICENT job on slowing from the 200+ to the measly 75-80 that these idiots do, a couple of times impressed me once again on my toy. OK back to the original topic... I was running at about 5700RPM in 5th gear sitting between 210 an
  4. My problem is slightly different... When I engage reverse in the odd occasion, the lights go on, but as soon as I release the clutch, the lights flicker on and off. When I fiddle with the gear lever, the lights go on again. Where is that switch situated?
  5. I have a similar problem on mine. When I switch it on, ( with the fan running) I hear the click, but the aircon does not kick in. Down here in SA I REALLY need the aircon, as we are seeing days heating up to 38 - 42 degrees, plus a discomfort factor... What do I check for?
  6. Thanks for the Info! We have here a place called Steve's Auto Clinic, who does an upgrade to a 3.1 L engine with Flowed head and cams for about 1200 pound(converted). But the ride will have to stand for about 2 weeks, which I cannot afford, as this is my primary transport. What would a turbo conversion"bolt on kit" cost up there? I might even be able to get it mailed to me, as it should be a whole lot cheaper, even with the steep Rand pound exchange.
  7. Greetings from Sunny South Africa! I have recently acquired a 1997 Golf3 VR6. All seems standard on it, but I would like to change all that. I have in the car the following: K&N Cone filter, 57mm freeflow exhaust system. I would like to get some more "life" into it, without going the forced induction route, as here in SA the people RIP you off. A supercharger kit here costs R 35 000, which equates to roughly 3000 pounds. Any advice?
