  1. Cheers Kev! Speed 3 is very loud, thought id knackered the fan
  2. Hi all Noticed today that the temp gauge on my '97 Highline has climbed past the vertical where it normally always sits to about 110. Also noticed the absents of any fan noise, checked under the bonnet and the fan is blowing at low speed. When it gets close to 110 the fan starts to shreik louder than i remember, so it doen't actually overheat. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the fan on a vr6 has 3 speeds. If this is the case how can i check if the 2nd speed is working? Any suggestions would be welcome as i worried if this continues its be the end of the head gasket
  3. Hi Just got mine done yesterday! Obviously gonna need more time but so far totally agree with Fabio, feeling so much better controlled in general, and the difference when cornering is incredible I've also just had the engine and gearbox mounts changed for uprated items as well, so i am getting a bit of vibration, but i'm told that it should be only temporary
  4. Can you just ditch the carbon canister? Is it something straight forward to do? Thanks
  5. Hi Are these the wheels from a E36 328 Sport? Just curious....
  6. Ok, i'm going to be thick here, whats a Banjo clip? Also, would the standard bolts fit? or would the spacing require longer bolts? I read a friend of Kev's on the Corrado board will make up a spacer (instead of washers) and the bolts, but are the bolts required on the later cars? Cheers ALean
  7. Thanks for the info mattverth. Just a couple of things, Firstly, can i definatly assume that 312mm will NOT fit under 15" alloys. Are audi a3/s3 different? Lastly, and most importantly, will the tt competitions go straight on Cheers ALean
  8. Kev, i think those Vento VR6 Cup challenge look the nuts!!! Where can i find me a set But anyway, just to recap this massive thread, to fit 312mm Brakes to my 1997 Highline, i would need: 312mm discs/pads (i'm very interested in the Brembo floating idea) TT Carrier 6mm Spacer Longer Bolts? TT Banjo clip TT Back Plate (optional) Also prefereably some fresh fluid and Braided hoses. Have i missed anything? Except someone competent to fit them ALean
  9. Hi Not sure if any of the follow is accurate, but here goes... I need to change my brakes soon (bear with me ) and i would like to try this 312mm audi tt brake swap. The only problem is that my highline current has 15" BBS cross spokes, which are only just big enough for the 288mm's! So, i need a cheap set of 17", meaning a second hand set of OEM VAG originals. With this in mind, Audi seems to produced more 17"s than VW, and if my understanding is correct, some of them should be a straight swap. Right? WHICH ONES! Looking on e-bay reveals more than one owner whom knows nothing about cars, l
  10. Hello I had the camber and tracking adjusted straight afterwards, the guy reckoned it was fine, and the wheel wobble at 80-90ish has gone. Pete - It's MOT is due in April, so it's been a while, but when i was under there i noticed that the anti-roll bar bushes looked like they had seen better days. So, i am fairly convinced that the bushes could probably do with a once over! However, i'm not sure whether they can cause the effects that i'm feeling. The suspensions damping and rebound feel fine, the shocks look in good condition, not really sure how to check whether the shocks and springs are
  11. Hello all Bought myself a lovely '97 Highline not so long ago. Great car, crap suspension! Anyway a set of Bilsteins and Eibachs soon found there way on. Not usually a problem, except that it is now incredibily sensitive to camber, it also has a tendency to pitch into corners like the steering suddenly wants to turn that way mid corner (usually when you apply power) and also understeers terribly! I know this is all terribly vague, but any ideas on where to start looking for a problem would be appreciated. p.s the car also needed a new O/S inner CV joint which collpased during disassembly!
