    Thanks again for your honest answers. Looks like I'll throw some more cash (4 branch manifold & Maybe cams) at the MKII for now as the next car on my want list after the VR was a MK5 GTI & there is no cash for that at the moment!! Will eventually try & get it up to around 180BHP so at least it will be in VR territory up to 110mph or so.

    Hi, Live in London & have been toying with the idea of getting a VR6. Current car is MKII Golf 16v with an 2.0 ABF Engine. Been reading through these forums & seem to get the impression that the VR will not really be enjoyed that much around town. Any views on this especially since my MKII is fine for the constant stop start driving in London. Thanks

    Thanks for all of the feedback. Shame that I do not have the space or cash to have both. Will look for a very decent VR then make the step. Sounds like fuel cost aside I will not look back. I'll let you all know when I get one. Thanks again

    Hi, I cannot make up my mind whether to keep my mint mk2 golf 16 (92, J plate) or upgrade to a late VR6 Golf Highline. I know most of the comments will be biased as this ia a VR forum but I need some help Things that make me want to keep the 16v are - it is a classic - it will not depreciate much - reasonable running cost (esp fuel) - fun to drive (156bhp) however the VR interests me because - refinement - mod cons- heated seats, air con etc, - more grown up image Please Help
