  1. Hiya, I won this on e-bay at the start of the week and fitted it today. I also bought a straight bit of stainless to remove the straight pipe after the cat, first impressions are good, slightly louder and warmer note but it doesn't seem any louder when driving around the village. I've only test driven it locally to ensure it doesn't knock but once I've done a few miles I'll let ya'll know what I think. Just for your reference, the old straight silencer is 5kg and the piece of stainless is 1kg, and the suitcase is 11kg where this one is 6kg, I know weight saving isn't too easy to do on a cabrio
  2. Your memory serves you right! Many thanks I've completely sussed out the diagnostic wiring so I can scan the car. Thank you!
  3. Hello! Good news they didn't change the wishbones across the mk3 VR6 range so they will fit, they'll also fit mk2's I've heard, saw a page about it on VW Vortex. Please don't quote me on the harsh ride factor, I bought my car lowered with shot bushes so I don't know what it was like with standard bushes. I've give them a go though, please let everyone know what you think once you've fitted them, rgdz J'mee
  4. Hello, my car failed it's MOT due to worn wishbone bushes and after reading VW Vortex I found that the mk4 R32 bushes fit, they're solid but rubber still so the ride won't be as harsh and less chance of snapping the bolt like with the poly one can occasionally do. They're £32 for a pair, part# 8N0 407 181 B.
  5. Hiya, can anyone tell or ideally show me which pin on the ECU connector is number 21 and 43 so I can sound out the diagnostic wires?! I hope someone can assist, many thanks in advance
  6. Hello, has anyone got the above on CD, server or somewhere that I can buy other that e-bay? Just thought I'd check before placing my order, please respond or pm me, cheers
  7. Cool, fair play on getting a bit done on the manifold, see you've plugged the top sides of spark plug holes but not removed the actual holes and undersides. Was it a bit of an after-thought or something?? I'll make a start on my 2.9 clone manifold once it's passed an MoT and the stereo's sorted! Ciao
  8. Evening, I now have my components, crossovers, headunit, amp and sub fitted in the car, all parts were working fine in my last vehicle but it sounds terrible in my Cabrio! Lots of alternator hiss and what sounds like clipping when I turn the volume up. I've turned the amp down to half power and the alternator hiss is still there and the crackling sounds when the volume is increased. I've confirmed the RCA leads are good and the earths for the headunit and amp are good , also tried earthing the head unit to the same place as the amp, which didn't work. Guess all there is to try is the amp and h
  9. Hello! My conversion is nealry compllete, I've taken my mk3 cabrio VR6 out for a drive and am pleased, however my friend with a laptop was able to connect to my car but not detect the engine. Any ideas whats up?? I'd really like to resolve thus before wrapping up all the wired in loom tape. I guess there's a connector behind the fusebox I need to double check, but any and all pointers would be really appreciated. Cheers
  10. I've just about finished my mk3 Cabrio conversion but overlooked to replace the loom on the passenger side of the engine, partly because the ABS pump connector was different amongst other things. I also have the old fan realy sat in there still and not the one for the aux water pump too. I have the other relay and would like to replace it but how do I go about splicing in to the loom already in there to mak the elec pump work?? Many thanks
  11. Merry Christmas! Strange time of the year to be doin it but I'm halfway through convertin a cabrio vr6 and have hit a wall! Snapped exhaust manifold stud (skool boy error)with about 1cm petrooding. Have got to wait until Thurs when a garage or two may have the tools to hire out to me. Anyhows I have the loom, pedal box etc in but does anyone have more thorough details on the install because I have questions at this point, like where to put he different connectors on the fusebox side of the new loom. Have a great week of celebration, best regardz J'mee
