Thanks for that. I will definitely be getting a 4motion rather than a syncro then.
-
That helps a lot, thanks. So is 4motion the new version of syncro and is it better in your opinion? Cheers
-
Hi everyone, I haven't posted on here in ages but am after some info. I have been looking at passat syncros and 4motions and would like to know the difference. I think these would make great stealth machines. I know 4motions seem to be a bit more expensive. What are the other differences?? Cheers Gary

Copper head gaskets from the uk!!
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
it has been custom mapped for the 3 litre conversion ,cams ,head and all but not for the charger. I was going to get it remapped in a week or so. SILLY ME!! I thought that it would be ok till then, how wrong could i be! I had been driving it for just over an hour of fitting, i gave it some real stick and then BOOM!! -
Copper head gaskets from the uk!!
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
would the victor reinze still be capable of handling the power of my car tho,??even though it's only a zr2 charger, my car was giving out 227 bhp before the charger so that should put it over the 300 bhp mark now -
Copper head gaskets from the uk!!

Cheers Jules, the car was running fine in general, it has the right charger chip,it already had arp head bolts but not sure what kinda gasket it had. The thermostat was also working and not overheating, as for the ecu giving out any dodgy codes i'm not sure as it's not been on a diagnostic machine. When i have it put back together i will have that done aswell as a compression test. I'm well confused as to what gasket to use, i had my mind set on a copper one as designa dubs recommended but that might be just because they make a lot of money out of them??? -

Water Leak since charger was fitted
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
my head will prob need skimming again from what i understand and then all the labour that garages charge aswell. At a guess £500 to £550 but my local garage will prob charge £200 more as they are pricey as &*%@ . Then there's the price of a copper head gasket aswell. Not gonna be cheap :-( -
Copper head gaskets from the uk!!

yes markgolf you are right it has been on the road about 3 weeks, it was v v fast for the 1 hour it was running with the charger on! -
I looked at one but with the name BONNET BRA it spoiled it for me, i don't wear a bra (honest i don't) so neither will my car!!
-
My Head gasket has gone, seems it couldn't handle the charger, obviously i have been happier. I am after a copper or uprated head gasket from the uk. I don't want to get one from abroad because of the waiting time for shipping, is there anybody over here who does them??? Cheers

Water Leak since charger was fitted
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
I have just found my head gasket has gone , oh the cheapness!!!!! -
I have just got my charger fitted and have had some teething problems, it has been popping off air hoses because of the pressure, I have now sorted that but i have now a major water leak. The leak is coming from the lower part of the engine near the drivers side, somewhere near the back. I have samco hoses so don't expect them to have burst and can't see anywhere obvious that they have popped off. Any ideas what it could be???

Z engineering charger for £1500
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
3 litre conversion,264 vento cup cams, gas flowed big valve head, straight through scorpion zorst, viper induction kit and remapped ecu, i think that's it. It's got great pull from 60 mph upwards just lacking a bit from bottom end in my opinion. Charger should help!! -
Z engineering charger for £1500
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
cheers for the advice guys,i was thinking around the £1350 to £1400 mark. If he said no i would prob say i'll give him the asking price if he fits it for me,he fit it on his car and it seems to be working fine. -
Z engineering charger for £1500
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
It has got the chip with it, the charger looks to be in good nick but i obviously can't tell what it's like inside. Looks like my gf will just be getting a card this xmas!! I am gonna try and knock him down a bit if i do decide to go for it -
I have been offered the above charger (zr2 version) for £1500, it has done approx 30,000 miles and has had a recon less than 1,000 ago. Is it worth that much and also what is the difference between this and the other one (vf engineering i think). The guy who is selling it is buying the vf engineering one so i presume the z engineering isn't as good. Cheers

i beat one the other day, fairly easily,it had the upper hand on the motorway bends but on the straights i left him. I bet he was gutted as he was trying to show off to his mate at the time

Spent £5000 on my car and it's failed it's mot BADLY!!!
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Bodywork and Styling
i didn't think so,it makes sense to give them a bit of extra cash while they are welding anyway, depends on how much it's going to cost compared to everybody else. -
FFS, i really feel like hitting someone, 3 litre conv has been finished and it was put in for mot and it needs some serious welding on the drivers side sill where it meets the floor panel and a bit on the passenger side, one bit is nearly half a meter long!! Is it going to be cheaper to source another shell?? I would put it in a mk2 but i have just spent £1000 on my suspension for a mk3. Dubsport are supposed to be doing my 4wd conversion for me soon and will have to weld some of the floor , will this include some of it ?? HELP !! :-(
