Yeah, I went to have a look at the one advertised on here 2 months ago. The P-reg one in metallic purple.
It was a lovely looking car and it went really well. The VR6 OBD2 engine was clean enough to eat your dinner off. He had all receipts for the conversion and a FVWSH.
The lack of ABS, 'leccy roof, and central locking put me off though. I'd rather have one in white and get all these bits.
He wanted £5500-£6000 for it. I wonder how much he got in the end?

I used to have a Mk2 Astra GTE 16V. God that thing was fast! Was pretty good around corners too once I'd uprated all the suspension.
The only reason the Nova took off the way it did was because insurance got so expensive on the Astra GTE/GSi.

I'm in High Wycombe too. Surprised I haven't noticed your car around, Speedo.
Have you seen that pearlescent blue Mk3 driving around Wycombe the last few days?. The "Max Power" one. I Don't think it's a VR6.

Nice one!
Thanks Pete!

Hi!!
Does anyone have an EKTA CD-ROM (covering the Mk3 VR6) they could sell to me? I am in need of a whole stack of part numbers - my local VW dealer has not been too helpful finding the parts I need.
Namely:
Heated Seats wiring loom (lots of interest in this one)
Tailgate remote opening solenoid, wiring & dash switch (Standard on US models)
-
A good progressive controller for the Nitrous and appropriate fuelling mods will produce reliable power. Risk to the engine is actually minimal if is done right.
-
I reckon on 215-220 with the Schrick 264 cams as well, but with loads of extra torque.
We'll soon find out!!!!

You can get the Mk4 runners welded to the floor, or you can modify the subframes on the seats themselves using metal cut from the subframes your old mk3 seats.
I'm told that modding the floorpan gives better results, but modding the seat subframes is easier and doesn't mean doing without your car for 3-4 days.
It won't be possible to get the side airbags to work, though, as these won't be supported by the Mk3's airbag system. Should be possible to get the heated seats working though, using a modified Mk3 heated seats wiring loom.
I'm trying to find the forum post on VWVortex.com that gave me all this information, but I've had no luck as yet. I'll post the link when I find it.
It's a lot of work, but for an R32 interior it's well worth doing. AFAIK, it hasn't been done in a Mk3 yet, so go for it!!

An Essex girl goes to the council to register for child benefit
"How many children?" asks the council worker.
"10" replies the Essex girl
"10???" says the council worker. "What are their names?"
"Wayne, Wayne, Wayne, Wayne, Wayne, Wayne,Wayne,Wayne,Wayne and Wayne"
"Doesn't that get confusing?"
"Naah..." says the Essex girl "its great because if they
are out playing in the street I just have to shout WAAYNE, YER DINNER'S READY or WAAYNE GO TO BED NOW and they all do it..."
"What if you want to speak to one individually?" says the council worker.
"That's easy," says the girl... "I just use their surnames".

It's a real bugger, isn't it!!
Spent many happy hours trying to get my new headunit back in after fitting amps & OFC speaker cables to mine.
What I did in the end was to remove the lower trim below the airbag on the passenger side (mine is just a tray, but later models have a glovebox here). This enables you to get your hand round the back of the stereo and pull the cables, connectors etc downwards. The stereo will then slide fully home with a bit of a push, with the cables and connectors sitting underneath it and to the left.
Tricky to explain..

Mine is Gunmetal grey (atlas grey?), but metallic black would have been my first choice. The dark purple (mulberry) looks good too.

Yes, the orange light in the main instrument panel is the brake pad wear indicator.
I recently replaced discs & pads all round on my 1994 VR6. There appear to be pad wear sensors on the front only. They slot into the rear edge of the front brake pads.
There is a single wire coming from each of these sensors. If the contact on either sensor or the wire leading to either sensor is earthed, the orange light will illuminate.
Check that the sensors are installed into the brake pad properly. The metal contact should be facing the disc.

Get the engine nice and hot, then hit the button.
Gives new meaning to "goes like a bomb".
He could be arrested under the Terrorism Act.
LOL

That thread had me in stitches. I can't believe that he...
.. just read the thread peeps and you'll crease up too!

If they're doing a gearbox rebuild anyway, they may be able to do a 6-speed conversion for not much more. It's worth asking.

I'm 32. Wanna get into weekend racing myself, but would like some professional instruction first. Does anyone know how much the courses cost?

>>"0 to Bitch in 4 seconds" sticker on the rear window is >>standard equipment.
>Bit below the belt that, i will race you someday....then see >who drives like a fairy....
All in jest, of course. Don't those poxy window stickers bug you too? They are so not funny.
Look forward to meeting you on the dragstrip tho. Learned long ago not to underestimate a lady!!

Go to http://www.eurocarparts.com
And search for part #818440335
£132.50 for a brand new Genuine VW tailgate.
There may be a wait for this item, but don't be tempted by the Pattern part (Part #818440331). I just got one of these and the fit isn't that great.
Hope this helps.

>maybe they should come out with a new car.. the volkswoman. That would be nice, all in pink with flowery seats etc etc.
They have. The new Beetle.
"0 to Bitch in 4 seconds" sticker on the rear window is standard equipment.

Yeah, the whining noise. The same noise that all Renaults make.
Only happens when cold.
I found it worse when I used 0W-40 Fully Synthetic oil.

If possible, get one of the later galvanised ones.
Rust is a real problem on earlier tailgates.
-
Bring it on!!

Doesn't a Supercharger come to just over £3000 once you've paid for fitting, a remap and the dreaded?
-
I swapped out 3 doors on my VR6, one front & 2 rear. This obviously involved taking everything off, and I didn't have any problems. By "Door trigger", do you mean the outside or inside door handle?
GOOD OR BAD TO SET SCHRICK MANIFOLD SWITHING POINT AT 3000RPM?

4000rpm is the best setting, unless your engine is supercharged.
