  1. I'd like to say a big thanks to everyone who supported the club yesterday. The stand looked great as ever, and we all enjoyed the sun and friendly atmosphere.

Good to meet a few of you guys that i'd not met before, Nerij and Gareth, and the usual suspects....you know who you are!!

Did a few runs at the at the end of the day, the best being a 14.3, which i was quite pleased with considering how hot it was!!! Popped a huge flame to! :)

  2. OK People.

Sorry it's late, but the meeting points are as follows:

    * A12/M25 Junction (Essex) For anyone coming up from the South - 7.30

    * Final meeting point is Toddington Services on the M1 (Northbound) - 8.15-8.30

    * If neither of these points is suitable, then we'll all meet up at Santa Pod. When you've bought your ticket at the front gate, drive up the road until you reach some stewards. Say that you're on the VR6OC stand, and you'll get directed to our stand :)

Ring either Tom 07803 585713 or me 07782 109880 if you have any problems.

    See you all tomorrow.

PS - If you want to run on the strip...remember your driving licenses!

  3. Hi' date=' Is there still space on the stand for an absolute newbie, in a very stock VR6?

I won't be able to join the convoy as I'll be coming from the other direction.

P.s. Will I need to put my VR6 badges back on? Normally I don't like to brag.

    [/quote']

Yeah, there's still space. Be great to have a new member on the stand.

Give either Tom 07803 585713 or me 07782 109880 a ring when you get to the main gate, and we'll let you know where we are.

  4. Last night I went to see an s3 at my local Audi Garage.

51 Plate' date=' 19k, black with black recaros leathers, etc. a very nice car and was really looking forward to getting one towards the end of the year.....

However, I was quite put off at some of the niggly plastic bits like the front grill, side sills, and some parts on the dash and its specification was no different to my VR apart from the BOSE sound system. It felt quick and power came in big lumps and I could here the turbo wistling at high revs !amazed but the gear ratios were very short and it just didnt seem as raw and as involving as the VR to drive... Also, I do not feel confident that its lump is a stong as the VR's and do not think it will run for as long (being a turbo) !sad

Opionins please everyone! I am really confused as whether to keep an s3 in mind or look towards soemthing else like a nice corrado VR !shy

    Thanks

    Matt

The 1.8T lump is fairly bullet proof tbh. Forged internals as standard, with the 210 & 225bhp models benefiting from lower compression aswell.

All in all, a great lump with bundles of potential.

I'm going the S3 route next.

  5. As Monster says, the passat is just too heavy to feel the 20vt. The 1.8T is a great engine, loads of mid range punch, but with most turbocharged engines, power tails of towards the top of the rev range.

A chip would sort the power out, and at least get the pasat of par with your VR.

  6. tragidy! stone through the rad car is in for repare but there not sure its gonna be ready for the weekend ~:( but will perswade the to fix it in time if it meens paying a bit more or advertiseing at the show or summat. Its lookin dodgy though. !sad

Doh.....sorry to hear that fella. Hopefully they'll fix it in time though, a little back hander may be in order ;)

  7. Tommy / Minty

Any chance of me getting on the stand?

Been a bit quiet for me over the last few months - mostly due to a 7 week wait for new discs and pads from Tarox in Italy!! I'd forgotten what my feet were for (apart from pushing pedals!)

What time are you all getting there?

Pod is only half an hour from me so I've got no excuse not to make it.

    Mark

No probs matey. I'll add you to the list.

  8. Ok people.

Another year has passed' date=' and it's all time to go racing at the pod again! :D

This is a great show with an excellent turnout of Dubs guaranteed. If it's show cars your after, then they're here a plenty, but if you want to see some quick Dubs, then they're here by the bucket load too!

It's a great opportunity to see how your VR fairs up the now legendary 1/4 mile at Santa Pod. So come along and have a go.

We've booked a slot for the club stand, so now all we've got to do is fill it! We've got an allocation of 15 so anyone who would like represent the club on the stand, please list below.

[b']NOTE: If you want to run your VR up the strip then please remember to bring your DRIVING LICENSE, without it you'll not be allowed on

If you have any question about the event then please PM either myself or Tommy.

Please note that i'm looking for definates for the stand, as apposed to possibles. The list so far is:

    Minty (Mark)

    Tommy (Tom)

Binliner (Justin)... Im probably show n shining B)

    Tandino (Pete)

    gbhno1 (Gareth)

    MSV83 (Manvir)

    Big P (Paul)

    ingham (Jason)

    Jon (A16VKR) (E38)

  9. He there' date=' any chance i can be on the club stand, am an official member now and the car is looking a wee bit better than it was?

    Cheers Paul
