Earwig 89
Just sounds like they did not tighten up the cabel properly. While it is slack don't rely on it to keep the car still. Put it in gear when you park up and leave it.Mark.

spindat45 0
Check the handbrake switch Ciaran. It may have been damaged or come off when the handbrake cables were unadjusted. From memory the switch is located under the handbrake lever where it clips on and is pressed when the handbrake is released. If you find it then you should be able to open and close it with your fingers and check whether the light goes on and off. You may need to un-adjust the handbrake cables first and remove the handbrake lever from its mountings. (Not as difficult as is sounds btw)Kevin
Ciaran 4
well i tried the switch when i tightened the cable it seems smooth enough and the connection seemed fine but il take it out and check the resistance across the switch in the open and close position and if it's not this then it's the sensor on the brake fluid resevoir.just seems a coincidence that it only came on after i had new rear disks and pads fitted or it could be coincidence!! spindat45 0
Just a though mate. Check the connector on the reservoir plug for any breaks and also that it plugged in properly. Its gotta be to do with something that as touched when the work was being carried out. Otherwise you could be entering the "VR6 Twilight Zone"
