VR6Pete 1,455
I think i have located the problem with my air con to a relay...firstly it was hot, and i mean too hot to take out until it had cooled down.... it's labled up as "18" in my fuse box area, when it's removed my climatronic unit doesnt work, so I suspect that this controls the air-con also.how hot should relay's in general get? it has really big terminals too and it's grey in colour.Has anyone got air-con/climatronic and could check to see how hot it gets when the car is running, and how much do they go for?Regards,Pete
VR6Pete 1,455
surely someone has air-con as well as me... it only takes 2 seconds to see how hot the relay gets
Guest Olly_K
sorry mate, no aircon here ! (blast to all of you with it !). but i dont think relays should get hot.

Pittuf 0
Ok, felt all the relays today and only one of them was slightly warm, I must admit i'm not sure which one is the aircon relay, but as I say none of them were hot.Air con had been on for about 15 mins.
VR6Pete 1,455
it's a grey one on mine along the top row, labeled up as "18" if you pull it out it has massive terminals in comparason to the rest. thanks for that mate, I'll buy a new relay and see if this solves my problem! VR6Pete 1,455
i can safely say that mine was that hot, the terminals on the relay removed my finger prints from my fingers!

speedo 0
Pete. it shouldn`t be to hot to touch...They can get slightly warm, but to make it hot meens that maybee the resistors packed up (which would make the fan run on fast speed only) and cause the relay to get hot. Pete your fans bugger`d mate.......
VR6Pete 1,455
ill try replace the relay first, easiest option to go with for now.
