drnick 0
after leaving my vento in the garage for a few weeks it seems the battery went dead so ive replaced it as it seems to be knackered only problem is the car wont start now! when you turn on the ignition you get "IN 00" on the readout before the mileage appears is this supposed to mean something ordoes it sound like the immobiliser needs reprogramming as didnt have any problems before and it wont turn over! VR6_Absy 0
When u reconnected the battery did u have the key in and turned to the ignition lights position. This recodes the key to the immbobiliser or summat like that.IN00 is just a service indicator.

VR6_Absy 0
Shouldn't be a prob, disconnect battery, put key in and turn it as far as you can. Leave a door open just in case ur central locking kicks in. Reconnect battery and BOB shud be ur UNCLE. Good luck ;-)

SHARKY 0
Is there an update on this key coding thing... Can you code a key to the car by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting with the key in the ignition? I've been quoted silly monsy fro VW to code a key to the car - they say it ahs to be booked in to them for a couple of hours??I've got two original VW keys cut waiting to be coded. Cana locksmith code VW keys? Or can you remove the transponder chip and put another in...??
Dr.Chinnery 0
I wanted another key too for my M-reg VR6. VW quoted me £60 and said it would take a couple of hours. Just out of curiosity, I popped into a locksmith and he did me a new key for £30 and that works a treat. He had to use the original key to "code-up" the new key or something like that. Anyway, the new key works and was 1/2 price :-)
