vr6madforit 0
My a/c seems to only work on fan speed one and cuts out on anything higher. Does this start to happen when the gas starts to run out and is it just a simple replacement thing? I do have a s/c fitted, can this be causing it? My car is a 96P Golf VR6 Highline. Any help would be much appreciated.Cheers
ventovr6essex1 0
its possible that ur system is low on gas the gas should be recharged every 2 to 3 years as the slowly escapes past the seals and through the pipes over time . You need to rule that out first if its still the same then u could be looking at some type of electrcal fault .
dellert 0
You can tell if the system is short of gas quite simply. run engine and aircon. then identify the aircon pump and there should be two pipes attached to it. One will go to the Condenser, which will be with the radiator and the other one will come from the cabin. This is the one you are after, run the air con for a few minutes, then feel this pipe, if there is the correct amount of gas in the air con this pipe should get cold, cold enough for it to get condensated, or at least cold enough to feel cold. If it dont get cold it short of gas!
Thunderbird3 0
Did this problem start after fitting your S/C kit?Cos the same thing happened to me after fitting my VF S/C kit,the AC pump would cut out at random. After hours of fault finding and parts swapping, the culprit was finally traced to the VF/GIAC software chip supplied with the kit. Put the standard chip back in and everything on the car works as it should.I am now using Vince's software (Stealth Racing) and the car is running fantastic! (A/C also working as it should)
