acf8181 0
yes they are expensive...about £250 from vw. and its not something that'd be a good idea to skrimp on. i'll do the etka prints and post them up for everyone...one sec
cgraham 0
just checked eurocarparts.com and they have a genuine chain for £15.70 and the tensioners are £17.68, are these not the correct ones or something?[ Edited Tue Jun 01 2004, 04:28PM ]
Glyn Mk3 0
When I called VW the tensioner parts (excl. chain) came to no more than £30 for the later versions.

acf8181 0
theres no way of doing it cheep...cause the most critical part is (as i understand it) no. 13...and you have to remove the 'box to change it, so may as well do the whole lot whilst you're there and have the knowledge that it'll never need doing again. cgraham 0
Well the box is coming out tomorrow anyway (fooked auto 'box) but its being sorted by the warrenty company, i'm going to try and talk the garage into doing this at same time and bill it to them. you think they will do it? acf8181 0
well, evenb if they won't, pay for it yourself as its gonna save a lot of money later. at the very least change the runners and most importantly the blade.
