gav_113 0 Posted May 29, 2006 Report Share Posted May 29, 2006 hi everyone!i was told today that early golf vr6's had the same size inlet manifolds as corrado vr6's. is this correct?i thought that all golfs were the same, apart from the throttle bodyson OBD1 and OBD2?can anyone pls help? is there anyway to tell without taking it off? Early Golfs had a slightly different shaped inlet manifold (it curved around the oil filler rather than being squared off). Some also had "DOHC-VR6" stamped into the casting.I don't think fitting an early type manifold produces any more power, but they are very popular because they look better with the engine covers off (which is something people want to do after mirror polishing their manifold). gav_113 0 Posted May 29, 2006 Author Report Share Posted May 29, 2006 ok thanks for that, im pretty sure i have just a normal 2.8 manifold. ive just had a spare one machined out to enlarge it, and would of been gutted if i already had a 2.9 one on my car!just need to clean up all the edges and weld it up like this.
