Hi all, recently i lost my keys or thrown them away i dunno , anyway went to VW with my chasis number and they ordered me a new key which was great but it didn't fit.

However i sent my immobiliser and a door barrel to the VW locksmith who read the immobiliser code and cut me a new key for £90. Key works fine in all locks but can't start car.

I've tried to programme it with VAGCOM with the code they read out, the car will turn over at times but i think the Alarm seems to be messing things up. Is the alarm connected to the immobiliser ?

Is it possible to bypass the Alarm as the fob was with the key (pms are prob best way to answer this) ??

Bottomline is i've made a really stupid mistake by not having spares cut before i lost them which has cost me £90 so far but could do with some help to get it running as knowing my luck my keys will turn up in that safe place i put them or is my option to get a new alarm fitted.

When i bought the car they cocked the alarm up and i was driving it for a while with no alarm so i know it's possible.

Cheers in advance, Gary

Cheers for getting back Ciaran. The car turns over but will not fire.

I've booked it in for Wednesday as VAGCOM will not program the key. I just hate the thought of letting those muppets loose on it especially when they charge £70 an hour.

Towed the car to my local VW stealer this morning who managed to code a key for £38 but couldn't start it as the alarm was immobilising the car. They did say that the factory fitted Logic system was NOT standard, not good for my confidence. Later VW rang back to say they could rip out the alarm for £275+vat and restore the wiring to standard to get the car started. I'm sure this was all some sort of piss take.

I paid £35 for my key coding and towed the car to Plymouth Car Sound (PCS) who ripped out the old system and have installed a Cat 1 Sigma which seems top notch. PCS spent 7 hours on my car and ensured that I took it away 100% happy unlike VW who couldn't be bothered because quote "trouble is it's an OLD car". How's that for customer service ?

Morale to the story is ensure you have spare keys or it'll cost ya £480 when you loose them.
