VR6_Absy 0
It's a bit of a cheek really but has anybody got a Camshaft Alignment Tool they're willing to lend to me or hire out for a few days . If a jobs worth doing it's worth doing properly so i'd be greatful if anybody can help.CheersGary
FishWick 21
They're only a few quid from the dealers. Or just use a bit of ali plate, dead easy to make. 4mm thick required IIRC. Or you can do it by eye as the slots will be level with the head when correct, if not, you're 180 deg out.
antera309 3
The trick is finding a VW dealer that will sell you one. I had no luck whatsoever and I am still after one of these tools. When I did my headgasket, I resorted to a makeshift tool cut out from an old bumper, but its far from ideal. If anyone can get hold of a 3268 tool for me, I'll make it worth their while... FishWick 21
Yeah you're right, my dealer took a bit cohersing to get one but you can have mine if you want it. PM me your address and I'll shove it in the post.
antera309 3
Sounds like VR6_ABSY's need is more urgent. I'm doing the headgasket on my brother's VR in a couple of weeks, so don't need it until then. :-)
VRTrickster 0
I ended up getting one thrown in with my cams from America where they seem to sell lots of copies of the tool.
