Campbell0240 0
I was wondering what a 2.9 Corrado VR6 would run like with 268 cams and no re-map? An what are the best Stand alone ECUs to go for an prices? Or what are my options with the standard ECU? any chip suggestions or is it re-mappable at all?
Eat this 2
stock ecu is remapable i personally wouldnt run cams without remapping it as the fueling will be out i noticed a feckin big diff when i mapped mine after having the cams fitted

cadguy77 0
mines not remapped yet, waiting to get schrick installed the remap is next. I'll most def take mine to Stealth for the remap, can't wait!!
antera309 3
I can help on this one. I have recently fitted 268 cams to mine, and it's being remapped at Stealth tomorrow so I'll be able to let you know exactly what the figures are.
matth76 1
I've just had 268 eurospec cams fitted. Got them second hand from a member of here. They are copies of Shricks but a bit cheaper! I had a remap before the cams were fitted due to pinking so I may or may not need a further remap tweek but going to have a visit to stealth in a months time to check all is ok. Haven't got any pinking at all since Sat when the cams were fitted (as I had my car scanned under load and at high revs by the phirm) but it may need a tweek when I see stealth plus it may yield a tiny bit more power A remap is normally necessary if you have cams or other big mods to prevent pinking and potential detonation which will seriously damage the engine. The standard ECU is not remappable out the box unless you get one of Stealth's "rechips" (£300+vat) which then allow it to be remapped. The Phirm fitted my cams and did a top job. If you're near london or in the south well recommend them mate. My car is a dream to drive since I had the cams fitted...pulls harder throughout the rev range. Not a huge difference but well worth it mate. A rr session at stealth will tell me what actual difference it may have made. Should find out in a month's time.
Campbell0240 0
Im going to fit the cams myself i've recently bought a VR my third rado having only ben driving a year and i also wanted to learn more about cars so i've re-built the engine with all new gaskets seal etc top and bottom but im replacing the standard cam and lifters. Im not too worried about figures as i wasnt happy with the ware on the original cams i didnt fancy splashing out on standards so opted to use it as an oppurtunity and buy 268s instead. In understand the car will run rough and idle like a sack of... but i just wondered how it will run without are-map for the time being. Is it driveable?
matth76 1
My car is very smooth but then I've already had a remap and any adjustments I need will be very small if any. If you aren't getting a remap just yet it should be drivable but I wouldn't rev it too hard or put it under load too often. Should be fine until you get it mapped though. I envy you taking the engine apart and rebuilding it. Sort of thing I would love to do but don't get the time nor have the confidence to put it back together properly! Is it driveable?Mine's been perfectly driveable with the Schrick 268s in and no remap, it hasn't run rough or anything, it just isn't producing the power & torque it should, that's all. Eat this 2
it should run ok but the fuelling will be wrong which is NOT good for the engine it porbably wont be anywhere near bad enough to damage the engine but i didnt like givin mine any stick before the remap
