theotherphil 0
I recently spoke with a friend of mine who is a total V-Dub nut and he really knows his stuff. I asked him what plugs are recommended and he said Bosch FR8LDC's. These are twin electrode plugs and come pre-gapped for the VR6. He also told me not to substitute them with anything else or expect running problems (poor idle, running hot etc). So, I check the trusty euorcarparts website which has the FR8LDC's listed as the only plugs for the VR6 and a cost of £4.67 +VAT each. Obviously, delivery of £8.50 is also added bringing the cost of 6 to ~£42. I decided to drop into Halfords and checked their product lists. As usual with any car I own, the plugs aren't listed. I asked the guy behind the desk if he could get them for me and he checks his computer. That tells him that a different plug is recommended. I decide to trust my friend and tell the guy that FR8LDC's are the one's that Bosch recommend.... so he checks his Bosch catalogue which confirms my friends advice. The guy then went out of his way to track down these plugs for me. He rings me at home and tells me that they can get hold of them and they will be in the store in 2 hours time.....at a price of £3.14 inc VAT each! That's £18.84 for 6 saving me ~£23 over buying from eurocarparts. The moral of this story is that it is always worth checking around before buying....savings can always be had! theotherphil 0
Not a bad price Jules but by the time you add VAT and delivery, the price is £21.74....£3 more than Halfords . I'll definitely bookmark that link though, thanks![ Edited Tue Dec 09 2003, 06:26AM ]
