Seademon 0
My cars done this since I've had it and Vag Com shows no faults - Its fine unless I try and boot it when its cold which you shouldnt do anyway but after a couple of mins its fine - I think its got something to do with the fuelling/Oxygen sensor. andy 0
They shouldn't run like a bag of nails when cold, the VRs I've had have all felt at their best when cold, not that its wise to use the performance too much on a cold engine. The fueling is very different when cold and should generally make them feel much livelier. Check the obvious things like ignition faults, ie check for arcing by looking under the bonnet at night with engine running. Could also be an idea to get it on Vag-Com to see if you have any duff sensors, (like temp senders) etc. Does it run ok when warm?
Ciaran 4
runs sweet as a nut after it's warmed up it just seems to do this more and more.i know vr's run like a bag of shit when cold but this missing not just a rough idle.living in scotland my car cools down in about 30min so it's started from cold maybe 4 times a day would this be a reason?? Snedboy 0
vw's are well knows for dampness to acumulate inside the petrol tank which probably is the reason so may people suffer the problem.I know mines does coz my in-tank pump gave up on me and you could actually see the water lyin in the bottom of the tank but as vr6's are so damn good they just burn off the water as if it's nothin.god i love my vr !amazed
matth76 1
My car used to have this problem. Turned out a VW main dealer had neglected to tighten up every one of the 6 spark plugs during a full service!... leaving a minute gap in the contacts... problem disappeared as soon as the metal expanded when the car had warmed up. For ages I thought it was damp (which could well be a cause of your problem as this is very common but easily fixed). When you get the full service done (by a vr6 specialist not main dealer!) see if that makes a difference get all the plugs and filters done etc inc. fuel and oil filters. Get a specialist to hook it up to vag com (they should do this for free) and see if you have any other sensor faults. Although as said above most cars run rough when it's cold as the oil hasn't warmed up. Car should normally take a good 15 mins in this weather to reach the 88-90c operating temp. Can't believe how many ppl with nice cars cane them when cold. A mate at work has an S3 and he canes it to 4000 revs when cold! His cars starting to sound slightly rough now...even when warmed up!Anyway good luck mate.
