Standard brake pads fouling 17" alloys - help please

Hi,

Have a problem, owned my 1997 VR6 Golf for a few years and put it onto 17" Avalini Design (Now RVS) Turbo alloys. Anyway it came time to replace the front pads, and the garage sais the new pads push the calipers into the alloys fouling the wheel ?

What i need is a thinner pad, but do you ever see pad advertised with thickness measurement ? i cant find it thats for sure. Not urgent yet, was just being replaced while serviced and MOT'd but there's some pad left to tootle around on now... just i need to find a solution within next few months.

Hope someone has solution or sorted a similar problem.

BTW im no real racer, yeh i drive swiftly but dont hammer the car - why ? i love it

So its all basically standard, cept the 35mm drop onto the 17's.

best to just get a set of 3-5mm spacers, this is a common problem on multi fit rims mate

Yep, wheel spacers are your best bet.

I had exactly this with the rs4's. I would recommend a 5mm spacer, or, better still, change the brake set up to 312mm audi tt/s3 setup. It sits further towards the outside diameter of the wheel and also 6mm further inboard.
