Earwig 89
Ever since I have had my car both front tyes have worn badly on the inner edge. About 2 inches of it or more.It gets so bad that the rest of the tire still has 1,000's miles of tread left but the inner part is through to the steel braiding.I get maybe half the wear I should out of tyres...... :-(Things I have had done to sure it are.........1. Tracking checked a good few times.2. Camber checked.3. In a last ditch attempt I was told that both outer arms on my steering rack were worn and this "Could" be a cause. So I had them all replaced at a cost of nearly £400 !Although the problem is not as bad now I STILL get the wear on the inner tyre and I just don't know what to do.... :-(My car is lowered 35mm on Eibach shocks/springs and has Eiback anti-roll bars fitted front and rear.I run on 7x17" rims with 205/40/17 tyres.I can't keep on going through tyres like this as it costs a fortune so I turn to some experts here for some further ideas. :-)Thanks for any advice guys :-)Mark. purple highline monster 0
have you changed the radius arm bushes? the top mount bushes? ball joints and roll bar drop links also fail all these can have an affect the way the car runs on the road even if the camber and track are set correctly, the radius arm bushes are a common problem, none of these items are very expensive to put right
dubloke 4
wishbone bushes are prone to wear and cause this effect, and as nick says, this leads to premature wear of other suspension components such as the drop links, and arb bushes etc! all these items need to be in reasonable shape b4 you get a geometry setup as all will effect the way the car sits on the road! VR6Fletch 0
Hi Mark - did you get this problem fixed. After fitting falkens 8,000 miles ago for the same reasons = totally worn through on the inner 2" or more on brand new tyres especially on the drivers side I am gutted to find the same wear pattern on the new tyres. Did you do anything to fix and if so what did you do?
