matth76 1
Petesvw... very good idea. I just opened the bonnet and it seems impossible to connect the cold air feed without removing the carbon cannistor thing and even then it seems a tight squeeze due to the length of the bmc. One thing Vince said and which I have just seen for myself is there is a gap all down the left side of the drivers headlight at the very corner of the car... Vince situated my bmc to face this and he said this is a good source of cold air. I may also look at feeding the cold air feed up to the filter without actually connecting it as you mentioned pete so there is always a good supply of cold air... as well as from the gap on the left side of the headlight...and I keep the amazing noise! matth76 1
Thats why I sold mine cos it didnt make as much noise! :0)Agree it's not one of the loudest. My old k&N on my xr2i years ago made far more noise. However I find the BMC makes loads of noise at full throttle without the cold air feed...its more like a howl. Sounds like an aston martin.. But can be equally quiet when you want it to when you lift off the gas.. exactly how I wanted it as it was far too quiet with the standard air box on.
xyber 1
How about feeding the air feed up too the filter' date=' but not connecting it! Thus sound and cold air![/quote']Im gonna put in a sort of partion wall between the cannister and the engine made out of heatshielding so the bmc will be inside its own cold zone and still keep that noise, worth a go i thought
VR6Pete 1,455
never bothered with the air feed to be honest, its not really needed... The gains from using the cold air feed aint worth the time really.pete
VR6_Absy 0
When mine was mapped at Stealth, Vince removed my cold air feed to try and squeeze a bit more out but it made NO difference. The only benefit of the cold feed is that it stops the awful drone when on motorways etc which i couldn't stickWithout a cold feed YES the BMC does bark loud under full acceleration but with it fitted I seem to get a more genuine VR6 note / roar which I love :-)
