squirreleater 0
I very much doubt the astra has the legs on a VR, may produce good(ish) power, but the Vr will out grunt it easily
Seademon 0
I would say the VR will win - I regularly race my mate in his stripped out Clip Cup 172 which is pushing out about 188 bhp and although were pretty close I usually beat him and as the Astra will be heavier than a clio you should beath him but it depends on your car & driving etc.
jb9999 0
I raced my mate in his Cavalier SRi, which is about the same year and bog standard, with the 2ltr 16v engine in it and left him dead in the water. Is the astra standard or modified? Think there about 150bhp standard, my mates SRi is anyway and will be the same engine.
snares123 0
yeah fink they are bout 150 standard, we both have cold air induction on thats it.
jb9999 0
You should put a little wager on it before you race him. Can't see the astra being that much lighter than the cavalier to outstrip a vr.
vr6matt 0
Redtops are good engines and are quite underated it might be a good race if it is tuned? nevertheless it is still a vauxhall shed and most of them are on thier last legs! I raced one a while back and was level in 1st, edging in 2nd, and pulled on it hard as soon as i hit 3rd. My VR is standard, if your is modified you should thrash it
jb9999 0
Tell it like it is bro! Tell him the astra should be in the scrapyard by now as well along with the rest of vauxhall's cacky cack!
vr6matt 0
Lol good statement!, please say that to him!
goonersteve 0
Unless he's souped it up, then 'AV HIM mate! Can't believe he would have anythin on you, especially once you get into the mid-range 3rd gear onwards (like VR6matt said)
snares123 0
the race is on will let you know how i go guys!!!
wayne_1@tiscali.co.uk 27
all depends on astra i used to have a limited edition one of the last mk2s the burgundy one with the blue yellow ane red stripe badge indicating as imersher special engine was a 2ltre 16v but was uprated by factory and had 180 compared to 150 change exhaust chip and filter and had 200bhp really quick car and lighter than vr if its one of these u might come unstuck if its normal gsi u will eat it for dust
