matth76 1
HiI need to get some of the VW semi-synthetic oil for my Golf vr6. I believe it is called something like "VW Syntha Silver" but not sure on this. And is the rating supposed to be 10w40 or 15w40? How much is it?Thanks for any help.CheersMatt
purple highline monster 0
synta gold is the fully synthetic stuff, tbh if you have high ish mileage and havnt had your engine rebuilt? the fully synthetic oils tend to find their way out of some oil seals! as it acts like a detergent and "washes" all the mineral oil deposits off, its also a bit thin for a "run in" engine unless its always been run on synthetic? the synta silver is 10w 40 and i find it really good in mine with 86k on the clock, its cheaper too! matth76 1
Thanks. My car's mileage is relatively low at 78k. Do you know roughly how much Syntha Silver is for a bottle?
VR6Pete 1,455
Gold is too thin, even for a lower mileage VR. Silver will be fine.Pete
purple highline monster 0
Thanks. My car's mileage is relatively low at 78k. Do you know roughly how much Syntha Silver is for a bottle? I get mine from the trade parts bit so its a bit cheaper bit % but i think normal price is about £12-15 for a gallon (5 litres) you can also get a 1 litre bottle, you need 6 for a vr with a filter change most vrs use about a litre of oil every 1000 miles so its worht having a bit for top ups, hope this helps
