markiev6 1
ive been told that if you regrind a vr6 crank no one makes the new bearings strong enough can anyone shed some light ?its only the main bearings that need to be ground. the engine is being rebuilt so it can handle a big power turbo conversion

matth76 1
I'd get an all steel crank - or what ever the strongest forged material is.
vr6turbo 27
VW do oversized bearings in .25 incrementsif you look at etka it shows 2 sizespart numbersstandard 021 198 491A.25 under sized 021 198 493these are crank main bearingsetka does not show part numbers for con rod bearingsyou will have to contact your dealer.as far as regrinding a crank and using it for a big turbo conversion i do not know if the crank would break.I have never heard of a vr6 crank breaking, EIP tuning have a obd1 vr6 turbo that ran over 600hp on a standard crank it may be worth asking them.www.eiptuning.com they are based in the USA. hope this helps
