considering getting spacers for my rear wheels to make the car look that wee bit wider and also handle that little bit better.

where could i get spacers and can anybody see a reason not to do it??

and not 100% sure how tha spacers work but wou;d i need new extended wheel nuts???

as far as i am aware you would need longer bolts to go through the spacer. also hubcentric spacers are the best as they act as a hub rather then a spacer which means fits more securely. only negative is that the wheels could rub on the arch lip if they have not been rolled.

I have 25mm spacers/hub adapters all round on my car (so it has the correct offset not to widen track), its running et 60 zw1 17x 8j alloys with 205 40 tyres, i was a bit dubious about using adapters but they are like a new hub once bolted on!! very well made and simple to fit, try these guys, they do proper hub centric adapters of all sorts which bolt to the hub instead of just spacing and using longer bolts, which can be untold grief and can cause it to be noisy and dangerous!! www.tunershop.co.uk

Be aware though that spacing the wheels out can induce wheel bearing failure much earlier and it will make the rear suspension stiffer. If you were to get the spacers the Purple highline monster mentions then they will be a minimal thickness of 20mm to accomodate the bolt head of the bolts being used to bolt the spacer to the car.

Here is a picture of my car with H&R 40mm spacers on the front (20mm each side) and H&R 60mm spacers on the rear (30mm each side).
