matth76 1
I've seen a few oil breathers on some VR6's (which are made of similar gauze material to the gauze on induction kits but obviously much much smaller). Are these a good modification? Are they supposed to keep the oil temps lower? I would have assumed the hot air in the engine bay would be a bad thing for these? Or are they just for show? mightyvr6 0
Not unless you like breathing in oil fumes. They are nothing to do with temps but some people like to keep their throttlebodies free from oil residue.

FishWick 21
Fit the plastic rocker cover from a Galaxy V6. It has a revised oil breather box and consequently less fumes find their way into the intake. Tappet noise is quieter too.Got one on mine but due to the charger intake arrangments, it's preferable to vent PCV gases to atmosphere, so I've got a long tube venting into a catch tank that sits above the ABS pump, tied to my strut brace, and then a drop tube goes from there down to the rack. The air flow at speed draws the fumes away from the blower intake so you don't smell it. I get a very faint waft on occasion when sat in traffic, but it depends on the wind direction! simey 0
An oil breather a good modification? Not really, the best solution is too set up a catch tank with a pipe to drain excess oil when needed.
