BMC CDA - fitted, with cold air feed

Recommended Posts

I have had the CDA fitted without the feed for a couple of weeks. Over the weekend I resolved to finish the job.

To make life easier, I moved the carbon cannister to the other side of the engine bay. Rather than simply extending the existing hoses to the cannister, I replaced them from the source. For this I bought some nice red silicon hose (from Think Automotive). I also purchased a metre of cold air ducting to replace the one that came with the kit. I had left it looking rather the worse for wear afterwhat I call a "Trial fit" the week before. :D The replacement was actually a lot nicer to work with, being far more flexible and far less prone to tearing than the stuff Halfords sell.

The hardest part of the job was getting the clips off the hoses connected to the carbon cannister. They were a real pain ... :o

Anyway, here are some pictures that I took today, during a brief respite from the rain.

The CDA itself:

A view from the other side of the engine bay - nice, red, silicon hose :D

You can just about see the carbon cannister in its new home

The end of the cold air feed - I will probably replace the plastic grills on each side with mesh

And there we have it.

*** edited because the pictures are too big (missed that bit in the guidelines!) ***
