stuey 0
I was wondering what people are searching for when they start to mod their cars. Are you guys after style and looks, or performance? Personally, i would like to take my car in the direction of a high performance/drivers car, in the style of an BMW M car, or RS in the case of Audi or maybe R for VW? Something like OEM+, using parts to make the car look factory but more up to date, and subtly aggressive like an M3. I want good performance and handling but not too much, i have the suspension but maybe a Schrick manifold and exhaust to perk it up a bit more. What are you guys aiming for? silverline 0
lowered suspension is always a good way to start, imo. i just started moding my vr and put -30mm springs on and it looks loads better already! i want to get an induction kit, fast road cams & a chip then the car will be just over 200bhp, enough for every day use. then tidy the exterior up with a pair of angel eyes.i think less is more with the golf, once you start adding bodykits and big wings etc it spoils the smoothness the golf has. look at most of the vr's on the site and practically every1 who has modded their vr has lowered them and added bigger rims. thats all they need-simple, subtle but so effective. craggsy 91
suspension already sorted on Koni Coilovers and handles like a dream.....next should be a supercharger but thats sometime in new year. Looks are staying standard except new headlights but not sure whether to go with angel eyes again or try something different. So will look standard but with about 300bhp....a bit like Nerihs really
stuey 0
I don't plan to do too much looks wise, I have a set of M3 red/clear rear clusters which I think bring the rear up to date. I also want some MK4 headlights, early bigger VR6 chin spoiler and some lower bumper air intakes just to make the front look more agressive but still subtle. I have some 17" Mim Amalfi 5 spokes, i may get them refurbed the same gunmetal colour as the Leon Cupra R wheels. Inside I have a Momo Race gearknob, and I am thinking of a few small chrome items like the clock surrounds to update the interior a bit
VRmonster 1
well ive gone for the girly cabrio look. then went and smoothed the bumpers, Vento front ended it and slammed it, only on some black 17"s at the moment, but gonna go euro 16"s soon. so thats the look i wanted. something that looks like an all show car that no boy racer would waste his time on.then you stick a 3.0L VR6 Turbo in there with a load of other goodies and the coilovers just happen to be FK, with eibach ARB, and soon a lower strut brace and 312mm brakes. then you have yourself a nice little street warrior. that im planning on killing M3s, Evos, Scoobs, Porsches with. and it will be getting tracked on the odd occasion. including the ring if i can.just my preference though. lol im calling it OEM++
stuey 0
It should go ok then !lol
TVR6 0
Good thread This is something I have always tried to acheive with all of my cars, that almost factory oem but updated looked, as if it was intended that way. I supposed that look would mean not dropping it to the arches but perhaps leaving just enough of a gal to hint at oem (M3 low) My exhaust is a twin 3.5 x 3 oval slash cut which sits in the aperture quite nicely and I've had it fitted close to the underside and not protruding by much. I wanted that Audi RS look, almost subtle but agressive at the same time. A well chosen set or rims, the right rubber, exhaust and updated headlights and indicators/fogs really does make the world of difference and definitly turns heads. Tuning wise, although I havn't as yet and SC would be the way to go. It maintains the VRs inherant smoothness and civilarity and looks almost factory fit.

antera309 3
The original plan with mine was to do an R32-look with the Mk4 front end. It's ended up as a sort of Mk4/Mk3 hybrid, but looks better for it, I reckon. The trick with Golfs is to make them look as individual as possible, while still looking sorta "factory". Not as easy as it sounds!!
