Hi guys - I've had this problem on my car for a while - no faults show up on VAG com etc - basically when Im driving along (doesnt always happen) the power all of a suden cuts out and the engine wont rev about 1300 Rpm and when I try and rev it - it sounds very bogged down and but if I stop the car, rev it and try and pull away its fine after a couple of goes! Its really getting on my nerves now as I cant identify the fault. I have found that my cars got Racelogic launch control fitted but that doesnt seem to work properly (or at all!) so Im thinking it maybe something to do with that?

Any ideas?

i had a problem with mine randomly stalling - also if you tried to accelerate there was no power unless you dropped the clutch, revved it a few times, and then tried again. . .. . . . .turned out to be as simple as the throttle body needed cleaning out as it was full of carbon hence making the flap stick and confusing the position sensor and ecu . . . .

If the throttle position sensor is the original one, replace it. VW have superceded them with a far superior one. The ECU is very fussy with the throttle angle sensor, it's the only plug in the entire loom that uses gold plated contacts. It's critical.

Residue build up in the throttle doesn't do any harm but residue in the Idle valve can as it causes the rotating vane to intermittanly stick.

Also raise the dashpot on the throttle body up a few turns so that it catches the throttle earlier on the overrun.
