mikw 0
Hi All.Yup I know this is a basic question - & many may have heard it b4, but I'm not up on VR6's and have scoured for info, but am still a tad confused.I have a 2.9 installed. Totally standard apart from the cone filter. Where / how do I start with some basic tuning. Not silly expensive stuff (too tight!) but yer basic DIY stuff.I have looked under bonnets & seen everything from filters to Superchargers. Where to start?
Ciaran 4
well easy u already ahve filter so the car is taking in more air so u need away to let this extra air out it's called a performance exhaust. im just about to fit a stainless steel manifold il let u know if thats benificial also.also going to build my own chamber for the air filter so that it is seperated from the engine and fit a cold air feed as cold air works more efficiantly than warm air. mark@vagworx 0
Preety much as Ciaran mentioned. Basic are Filter and Exhausts really. Next step would probably be a remap, making a noticeable diffrence in driveability. The skies the limit after that, Chargers, Turbo kits etc etc
mikw 0
ok.the exhaust is already kinda upgraded. The 1st part to just belown the joint on the manifold is standard. The rest is built at the same bore then it connects to a Jetex big bore exhaust designed to fit the the Scirocco Mk1. Of course this was only designed really up to 2.0 but is of the same bore & seems to do the job. The cold air bit - yup gotta design a box / get cold air in. On rocco's we used to get rid of the air intake tube between the k jet & the chokes & put a bigger one in place. I have seen something similar between the fiter & the manifold on many a VR6 since I started looking, these worth the bother?Remap eh. expensive???cheers for your patience guys, Obviously when it comes to the old 8v roco I know me stuff, but VR6 is all new to me!
