VRmonster 1
i have a 93 car, but i think the engine was replaced before i baught it as vw had a different engine number for my car, (checked with the police and it aint stolen, phew). but now i know it isnt the original engine, im unsure if its OBD1 or 2. is there any noticable differences in the engine bay? and can you get a OBD2 on a distributor? any help is appreciated. Guest couzens
if its got a distributor cap, its OBD1. Larger throttle bodies and slightly different management system is the difference but you obviously can't see them without taking the engine apart.
acf8181 0
only '92 cars came with a dizzy, '93 onwards have a coilpack...but are still obd1 until the end of '95.there is a way of telling by looking at the engine, something to do with the MAF i think, but am unsure.i'd bet it's still and obd1 tho, as they'd have had to change the loom to make it obd2 AFAIK.
