Standard suspension

I have a standard 96 VR6 which has covered 72k. I have had plenty of Golfs before but have never had one which seems so heavy (aircon adding bit more) and picks up every bump, cats eye and drain cover. The suspension is not too hard (had a Boge set up on a MK1,now that was hard!) it just crash's over everything. In addition when I first had it serviced they replaced the rear bumpstops which made it a bit better but if I go over a speedbump etc I still get a crashing noise from the back. Does this mean I need new trailing arm bushes? If so do I also need to do the front wishbones to make the whole thing better? How much I am looking at to make sure all my fillings don't fall out.

your shockers may be goosed, just had my rears changed and seems to have improved it a bit,
