uber-tub 0
As the title suggests my car coughs out a load of black smoke when I accelerate away after going down hill off the gas. Is it sucking oil past the rings or could it be valve stem oil seals... please not the rings. Ta. Mik
badboyV6 4
It should be blue smoke and yep my guess is valve stem oil seals- exactly the same prob on my last one, and was finally diagnosed with seals... its the oil drop in oil pressure and sudden rise when you floor it that pucses the oil past the seals as they are probably shrunk and hard... Ive heard of quite a few cases on here. Bottom end is usually very strong and rings is not a common problem.... Obviously depending on mileage and the servicing the car has had thoughout its life....Black smoke means too much fuel- again not good but this could be a cheaper fix.....
