Hopefully soon to be VR6 owner.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

I currently drive a '14 Fiesta Zetec but I've recently started looking to buy a Golf III VR6 to have has a stance car stored in a garage. I am just passing through to ask a few questions on insurance, (Insurance companies don't like 17 year olds with a 2.8L engine).

Thanks for the welcome.

I believe the younger generation will struggle a bit with insurance, I'm pretty certain you have to be over a certain age to qualify for insuring a classic car for example, whether it's the same for a collectible or not, I don't know. Things like limited mileage will keep costs down, being garaged, a good alarm fitted and getting a female insured on it will help no end.

Big J Thank you for the welcoming. That's crazy cheap for 19. I'm 18 in March but only passed my driving test in December, hopefully I will be able to get a decent insurance price when I am older.

Bealieboy I've tried all the tricks but £4.6k is the cheapest I have found so far. I'm only looking to take it to events and meets, so I am considering having one of my parents as the driver and only add me for a week every so often because I believe that is somewhat cheap. My brother is 20 and was insured on my Dad's Audi A3 2014 for £40ish to drive it for a week.

Definitely go for limited mileage that will bring it down a bit too. Try specialist brokers too and join some clubs too you sometimes get a discount for being a club member.

Sign up to be a member here its only £10 per year and you'd get access to club discounts on things like insurance and parts
