cpfcvr6 6 Posted June 6, 2014 Report Share Posted June 6, 2014 ive got a OBD1 golf vr6 as you know but i cant have it off the road for long as i need it for work! ive found a OBD2 head for sale for cheap! i am getting this rebuilt / skimmed etc............. will this fit on my OBD1 block?? i know there is something different about the top chains with one being a single chain and one being a double?? what about the side chain covers will that need to be skimmed or is it ok?? VR6Pete 1,455 Posted June 6, 2014 Report Share Posted June 6, 2014 Yeah as above, the later heads had some slight improvements for oil flow for chains but doesn't really offer any improvements but fully inter changeable, I've just had a new head built for my new block and have had the cover skimmed to match.
