Dr.Pepper 0
Who's that with acf ?And how much did greenlight bring yours down from HICs quote vr6Steve?[ Edited Tue Mar 23 2004, 07:17PM ]
Dr.Pepper 0
Just got an online quote of £702 from tesco. That's a start!
acf8181 0
go to elephant, then add another named driver (mum, dad, older bro), and watch it come down!
VR6Steve 0
Well can't really tell you as i have 2 cars insured with Greenlight, with the Golf being the 2nd car. They have reflected my NCB from my Polo onto the Golf, so i got more than the 1 year (NCB) discount i had earned with HIC. Both cars combined cost about £11-1200 fully comp to insure with Haddi as a named driver on both of my cars.
Dr.Pepper 0
Good tip acf !Come down from £607 to £532 if I add my mum!lol, crazy....Still, at least having a little look around like that has made me feel a bit better.£500-£600 I was expecting. Bit better than over £800...
acf8181 0
i dont think we should be spreading this tip too much, its gotta be an error and they may notice it! lol!
Dr.Pepper 0
lol....I have heard that suggestion before.I believe the thinking is that if my mum is a named driver, she'll be driving it some of the time.Hence less time for me, the allegedly more dangerous driver(!!) to drive it.Mwuhahaha, the fools! How little they know
acf8181 0
funnniest insurance thing i had happen was when i needed to be insured on my mum's '95 cavavlier 1.8 lsi (bottom end, worth about £1k), and her company said 'no, we won't insure such a young person on a car with such a big, powerful engine'...i almost wet myslef laughing, what with me bein 22 (at the time) and driving a 2.8 as my own car. oh, and since when is 90bhp powerful?! Dr.Pepper 0
Hahaha, quality!!I'm tempted to phone HIC and just start laughing!
Tristinh 0
Give direct line a go. I pay about £600 fully comp.
just2zang 0
Mothers bless them. The last time I put my mum in a car.. She was trying yo move my car from the driveway and crunched reverse for about 5 whole minutes, NO JOKE!! I used to go crazy, then one day I decided to investigate, she lifted the seat to see over the steering wheel but was too short to reach the pedals properly.. U live and learn.. In my last car, a lowered stiffened 200bhp fezzy turbo I put her on the insurance and that went down also.hehehe. in fact i think i put the logbook in her name. Was funny getting stopped by the 5o always used to laugh when i told them who the car was registered to. [ Edited Wed Mar 24 2004, 05:22PM ]

Glyn Mk3 0
I'm with elephant as well, over half price what direct line wanted from me! Has anyone had a renewal with elephant yet? Are they still cheap after your 1st year with them?
DundeeDub 0
Jon,what mods did you clsimed you had, did you mention being members of owners clubs etc. £490 seems very cheap but depends on limited mileage, no-claims etc, do you live in a good post code??

Live in a busy town next to Gatwick Airport. Declared 7,000 miles per year, even though I do an average 5,000 per year. That is also with my Mrs (to be), protected claims and insured to drive any car! 8o) [ golfvr6025smaller.jpg ]
